The Raggisar Republic is a sovereign nation-state spanning the whole of the Continent of Eastera.

Formerly known as the Imperius Reich, the Republic was formed after the Raggisar Revolution, that saw the Von Dragestein dynasty dethroned and exiled to the Kythiran Empire. Under the leader of the Revolution, Regent Von Wolfswald, the Reich was reformed into a federal presidential constitutional republic with Von Wolfswald as Regent.

History

Although the continent of Easterria itself has possessed various populations since the mythic era, most of these groups have been presumed to have massively declined in numbers and influence following the Minecraftian Ice Age, and potentially through exposure to diseases carried by the arrival of Minecraftian into the larger peninsula during the first era. During the closing days of the Minecraftian Dark Ages, the warlord who would later be known as Emperor Richard I Viromaro offered the populations of the lands around Blackwater Base, a fortress dating back to the Second Era, a deal. He would take over the castle and lands, and in return he provided them with ships and a map pointing to the island of Dorwall. This new land, and crucially all land east of it, they would be allowed to colonise and rule fully independently, and he would recognise whatever nation-state they would form.

Shortly after this island became a starting point for many more settlers to begin to settle Easterria proper. Out from these settlers would eventually emerge the Unific-Order, who in the Third Era would work to unite the various settlements and chiefdoms of the continent, wherein they crowned then Unific ruler Pesch Von Dragestein as King of the newfound Dominion of Imperius. As the third Era progressed, the Dominion would eventually come to amass ever more territories, and would subsequently reform itself into the Imperius Reich through the Declaration of Empire. It was during these closing days of the Third Era, that the newly crowned Kaiser would sign the Treaty of the King's Keep with the Kythiran Emperor Richard II Viromaro.

The Fourth Era was known as the time of the Pax Minecraftia. It started off roughly, with the Duke of Lotric, one of the most important nobles in the Reich, offering an alliance to the Kythiran Emperor and betraying the secret great fleet that the Reich was building, prompting Emperor Charles I Viromaro to respond by building the Mediori Sea Fleet and large numbers of coastal defences. Ultimately the alliance was never completed, the Treaty was maintained, and peace and stability returned.

During the reign of the Kythiran Emperor Philip The Jolly Viromaro, relations greatly flourished. He and his son, crown prince Henry Viromaro, were frequent guests in Imperia and beyond, enjoying the expansive mountains and forests of the Reich. Philip even bought a palatial home east of Imperia. The influx of wealth stemming from the lucrative Senfina Sea Trade greatly improved living standards in the Reich, resulting in a strong middle class.

After Henry took the crown upon his father's death, relations continued to flourish for eight years, until his terrible riding accident, which caused a personality change so great he would receive the monniker The Mad. Although peace was maintained, international trade greatly reduced, mostly due to tensions inside Kythira. The death of Emperor Henry didn't result in this changing, for the Alcanzari Slave Rebellion that followed took the live of Emperor Charles II and indirectly Charles III. Henry's youngest legitimate son, Alexander Viromaro, took over. This finally brought back stability, and as the trade relations flourished, so did the lives of the peoples of the Reich.

Tensions only remained between the imperial Von Dragestein family and the Duchy of Lotric, as the latter grew ever closer with their neighbours across the Senfina Sea, the Kythiran Province of Alcanzar. The High-Lords of Alcanzar, House Vinkhuys, had tried for decades to sell slaves to the Reich, which had been strictly forbidden by the Charter of the Unific Order, which clearly stated that "All those who migrate to the lands of Easterria henceforth, and forever, shall be free from chains."

The Grand Dukes of Lotric, House Mace, defied this ruling, instead allowing the Alcanzaris to sell their slaves inside the Grand Duchy. House Mace however enjoyed extra protection through their warm relations with House Viromaro. The Grand Duke and his family were welcome guests in the Kythiran capital Helmira, and close friends to Prince Louis Viromaro, the second son of Emperor Alexander. When the latter's death and the death of crown prince Amantis caused the Chaos of the Coronation, this gave the Von Dragesteiners the chance to finally take out the increasingly rogue Grand Duchy. At the end of what would become known as the Lotrican Genocide, their capital was razed, the House of Mace was reduced to one man, Titus Mace, who escaped to the Republic of Aqumis, and their population was decimated. Those who survived either were forcefully relocated to other parts of the Reich, or also escaped to Aqumis. The slaves became freed men.

Following the Lotrician uprising. Although seeming to have overcome the largest threat to its existence with the victory over Lotric, discontent with the monarchy had become more emboldened through the internal controversy in the royal army and merchant classses over the Lotrician genocide, given the financial debt this had placed the empire into. Following various mass expenses the crown placed into the construction of palaces and felt to be vanity projects—such as the laying down of the vessel Dragestein III—several republican underground organizations began to more openly operate within the Empire, something which the monarchy failed to meaningfully squash. In the Fourth era, these republican movements would have their day, as amidst various international crises such as the Dervich Incident, the Dragesteiners had come to be viewed as weak in the face of foreign dangers, making use of the opportunity, an alliance of merchants and industrialists worked together to energize the growing emancipated classes of Imperius against the monarchy. They fought a revolution against the monarchist, which they ultimately won, arresting the House Von Dragestein, abolishing the nobilty and declaring a new Raggisar Republic.

The Kythiran Empire under Emperor Louis Viromaro decided to uphold the Treaty of the King's Keep, and help the Dragesteiners regain their crown. They launched a brutal invasion, which would culminate into the Grand War, the largest war in Minecraftian history. After several years of fighting the Kythirans were forced to fall back. The assassination of the Empress had already resulted in Emperor Louis disappearing from public view in favour of his son, the prince-regent Charles Viromaro. Knowing the war was lost, they agreed to a somewhat favourable peace treaty that allowed the Kythirans to keep some land, notably the city of Chesterfield, in exchange for them admitting they were responsible for the war and would pay reparations totalling 840,000,000 Florynts. decades of funding the extravagant expansion of Helmira and years of warfare had however severely drained the imperial coffers, and the Mercenary Bank refused to provide a loan to the Crown, seeing Emperor Louis as unreliable. He implemented the Great Rebuilding Act, through imperial decree, dissolving the senate in the process. This resulted in the Emperor being presented with the Reforma Carta, which would have the provinces pay for the reparations in exchange for Louis stepping down in favour of his daughter, implementation of a constitution, recognition of the new Raggisar Republic and several other policies.

House Von Dragestein became Kythiran citizens. Their fortune however was largely untouched, due to the Mercenary Bank refusing to move their accounts to the new government's account instead.

Provinces

Raggisar

This is the single largest province in the Empire, With the Empire's Capital Imperia in its center. besides striking landscape features, this province is also rich in resources. It’s borders are clearly defined at the transition between coniferous trees to deciduous trees. It is also from here that most trade with Kythira is held.

Furumir

A province that is essential to the Industrial might of the Empire, out here most industrial centers are to be found, sitting next to the Vannvernlig Sea is the fortified city of Eisenturm. Where Regional Chancellor Javohn resides.

Jernir

A ocean side Province bordering on the Northern Sea, it is in this province that most civilian ships are constructed. The capital of this province, Brødsund is one of the richer cities in the Empire. Being a popular city for people of the Volksgenossen class to eventually retire in.  

Fjernheimen

The most Eastern province of the Empire, Bordering the Farlands. It is here that the Unific Order is still the most active, defending the Empire from small incursions and sometime forces believed to be from territories far outside the known world. Due to the province being such a great distance away from more developed areas, most towns here are focussed on smaller industries such as woodcutting.

Government and Politics

Unlike the Empire of Kythira, and despite the official definition of the empire's government, the Imperius Empire has an elected monarch with full autocratic power. The seat of power, Eagles Reach, inside the capital city of Imperia, is where national and international matters are discussed and deliberated upon.

Whilst proclaimed to be a constitutional monarchy, in practice the emperor governs with little restrictions, the parliament serving at times a mere symbolic purpose. The Existence of set parliament is largely a consequence of provincial uprisings demanding more autonomy, it having been established in an attempt to quell these incursions.

Though several peace treaties with the Kythiran Empire exist, conflicts between the two nations are relatively common, often resulting in new treaties and sometimes the annexation of territory.

The Imperius Empire is split into several provinces, each ruled by a chancellor who, semi-independently, reports only to the Kaiser, similar to the High-Lord system of Kythira.

Military

Whilst the Kythiran military is primarily split among separate armies, each under the control of their respective High-Lord, the Imperius military is one unified force, which in terms of manpower far outmatches the Kythirans. The Imperius military is also one of the most well funded in the world in terms of research and development, constantly bringing new types of weaponry and technological advancements to Minecraftia. This often results in military standoffs between the nations, but so far a full war has never occurred between the Empires. For this, leading scholars have several theories:

The Trauma Theory

The Trauma Theory states that the two Empires never have engaged in full war due to fears of repeating the events of the Great Grief.

The Sea Theory

The Sea Theory states that the two Empires never have engaged in full war due to the Narrow Sea preventing a land army from quick mobilization into foreign territory, unlike the Great Grief and the numerous wars in the Second Era, all of which were fought on the same continent. Furthermore, the strong naval presence and coastal defenses of both nations make an invasion even more dangerous to accomplish.

The Trade Theory

The Trade Theory states that the two Empires never have engaged in full war due to it endangering trade between the two nations, making warfare not financially viable.

The Expanse Theory

The Expanse Theory states that the two Empires never have engaged in full war due to both empires having reached such large sizes that resource wars are as of yet unnecessary, compared to the Second Era, where there were both more and smaller nation-states, resulting in the need for territorial expansion or raids in order to survive.

Infrastructure

Due to it’s harsh landscape, in the past it has often been found that the Empire was highly difficult to traverse. Because of this most long distance travel is done via the seas and rivers, However these may be less usable during the cold winters of Imperius. Therefore a large road system has formed overtime which connects all major cities, towns and Industrial centers. However due to the expansive nature of the Empire, It is highly recommended to always travel in groups. as even though the crime rates in the Empire are low, There is an abundance of predatory Animals including Bears, Packs of wolves and llamas.  

Economy

Though originally having a primitive trading system, the Imperius Empire today stands as a industrial superpower. The national currency is the GDE or Green Dragon Emerald, provided by the stateless Mercenary Bank. The world's largest trade organization hails from Imperius, operating the largest ships in Minecraftia's history. Where Imperius is rich in resources, Kythira is extremely wealthy, making the two natural trading partners.

Where the Kythiran Empire's industry is split between government mandated monopolistic provinces, where the Crown makes money primarily through levies, the Imperius Empire has a more unified industry, primarily focused on raw natural resources.

Whilst the Kythiran Empire has barely moved into their Farlands, preferring to stay within their borders, the Imperians are in constant conflict with theirs, using them to extract tons of resources through strip-mining these foreign lands.

This has caused several conflicts between the Eagles Reach and the Minecraftia Forum, the latter fearing human rights abuses, as the farlands fall outside of Imperius law.

Official Languages

Being a people originating from the Riverlands in Westeria, they share the same languages as the Kythirans, these being:

Riverlandish: Based on the Dutch language

Low-Riverlandish: Based on the English language

Redstonian: A mixture of Germanic and Nordic languages

These three different languages are a legacy from the First and Second Era and the different city-states across Westeria.
