The House Von Dragestein is one of the few remaining Ancient Houses, whose lineage is traced back to the First Era. During the late Minecraftian Dark Ages till the Fifth Era they dominated world history as the absolute monarchs of the Imperius Reich, until they were overthrown in the Raggisar Revolution of the Fourth Era.
History
Origins
House Von Dragestein was founded by Lord Borus Von Dragestein, a wealthy landowner near Oldspawn during the First Era. Their ancestral home, the Drakenfort, was one of the largest castles of the First and Second Era. Due to their neutrality, as well as being distant family of House Viromaro, they were spared much of the raids by the Redstone Alliance. When the world collapsed during the Great Grief and the subsequent Minecraftian Dark Ages, they closed all contact with the outside world, staying in their fortress and being spared much of the death and destruction that occurred around them. House Mace, a now extinct member of the Ancient Houses, also lived in the castle together with their clan.
When the Kythiran armies and the surviving members of House Viromaro left their underground fortress north of Oldspawn, they were invited by Lord Von Dragestein to stay in the Drakenfort.
When eventually the Kythirans began conquering the Old World, they thanked Lord Von Dragestein by offering them a treaty, known today as the Treaty of the King's Keep. The Kythirans would take over the Drakenfort, whilst the followers of the Dragestein clan would be allowed to settle as an independent nation on the Island of Dorwall, in the Narrow Sea, with the added notion that all land east of Dorwall that they may colonise will also be part of the Dragestein sovereignty.
Birth of the Reich
After the Island of Dorwall was fully settled, a great eastern expansion began, under the banner of the Unific Order and the
Fifth Era
After the Raggisar Revolution and the formation of the Raggisar Republic, the surviving members of House Von Dragestein fled to the Kythiran Empire. Although they had lost all their material possessions in the former Reich, their account at the Mercenary Bank was completely untouched, allowing them to finance the construction of a new palace in the Kythiran capital Helmira. Here, they are surrounded by other wealthy diaspora from the former Reich, mostly former nobility and other Dragestein loyalists.
