Hotel Ye Olde Tower is a small hotel located in the heart of Helmira. It is the oldest hotel in Helmira and the second-oldest hotel in Kythira. It primarily serves foreign traders. It is easily identified due to the large red 'H' on the roof.

History

The hotel originally was a guard tower and barracks, constructed for Helmsdeep soldiers during the Second Era. It survived the Great Grief, and was eventually purchased by the Mountton family and refitted into the first hotel of Helmira.

In this capacity it hosted dignitaries and traders alike. With the construction of other hotels owned by the Mountton family, such as the massive Hotel Voyage, the hotel became less popular with the wealthier classes.

During the Dervich Incident the hotel was where the Imperius Grand Marshal was arrested. This significantly reduced the standing of the hotel over the next few years, and prices dropped even more. For a while, the Mountton family considered selling the property or demolishing it completely, but the tower’s status as a Second Era monument saved it.

During the Grand War the building was confiscated by the government and used to house officers of the Imperial Navy before they would be shipped overseas. After the war the building was returned to the Mountton family, who purchased a large adjacent building and connected it to the hotel. They furthermore build a large, partially indoor swimming pool to better compete with other hotels.

The hotel today

Today the hotel mostly receives traders from Imperius. It is the cheapest hotel in Helmira, but still provides guests with several amenities. It has six guest rooms, as well as a separate honey house, a tiny dining hall, a private farm where guests can make their own free breakfast, a private balcony overlooking the White Harbour, and a roof terrace that overlooks part of Helmira's city center.
