General Malgeri

General Malgeri was a general in the Kythiran Empire and a minor noble of Camuria. He is most known for his attempted coup during the Chaos of the Coronation.
Background
General Cicerus Malgeri was born into the now extinct minor noble House of Malgeri. Descendants of Dick Malgeri, a bastard of Emperor Richard I Viromaro.
He grew up in Marsadini, where he eventually enlisted into the Imperial Legion after finishing his studies. He served in the Imperial Guard during the reigns of Emperor Henry III and Charles II. Under the latter he became the youngest head of the Imperial Guard, aged only 25, becoming very fond of the crown-princess Melissa Viromaro, the infant daughter of Charles II. When the Council of Provinces decided upon the violent and sudden death of Charles II that his younger brother Charles III would inherit the throne, princess Melissa and her mother, the dowager-empress Anastasia were locked in a tower of the Winterhal Palace. Protesting their treatment to the Emperor led to his dismissal, and he worked as a carpenter's apprentice for a year before rejoining the Imperial Legion. Princess Melissa was never seen again, her mother died within two weeks after Charles III's coronation.
Eventually he became the General of the Second Army of the Imperial Legion. In this state he served Emperor Alexander Viromaro, until the latter died in a hunting accident. At this time Malergi was already in his 70s.
Coup & Fall
The news of Emperor Alexander's death was a shocked to all Kythirans, but his son, crown-prince Amantis, was beloved and had decades of preparation, so the people of Helmira eagerly awaited the arrival of their prince for his father's burial and his own coronation. When the news eventually reached the capital that Amantis' ship had vanished and the prince was assumed drowned, panic set in. The prince had only an infant daughter, princess Alexandra Viromaro, later known as Alexandra Hjarta, and his younger brother, prince Louis, had the reputation of being a party prince who never attended state functions, and no-one knew where he had gone.
Grand Chancellor Von Reventrad took control as Lord Protector of the Empire, making preparations for the Council of Provinces to convene for the question of who should take the throne.
Remembering the fate of the princess Melissa, Malergi had ordered his Second Army to station itself in Helmira in order to "Aid in keeping the peace." When he learned that the Council of Provinces would convene, he marched his forces into the Imperial Palace, overwhelming the Imperial Guard and arresting Von Reventrad. He named himself 'Lord Regent of the Kythiran Empire'. He legitimised this with the fact that he was a distant relative to the House of Viromaro, and he would sit on the throne until the "true heir, crown-princess Alexandra" came of age.
He had Von Reventrad, locked inside an old dungeon in the White Gold Tower, from where he managed to escape through a series of secret tunnels, eventually managing to return to Ardoragh.
He still awaited the Council of Provinces to convene, this time to formally recognise him as Lord Regent and Alexandra as the true heir.
