The Chaos of the Coronation was a chaotic succession crisis in the Kythiran Empire that would ultimately lead to the coronation of Emperor Louis Viromaro. The kaiser of the Imperius Reich used the chaos to take out House Mace, resulting in the Lotrican Genocide.
In the late Fourth Era, Emperor Louis Alexander suddenly and unexpectedly died during the Imperial Hunt. Upon learning of his death, the Grand Chancellor, Lord Von Reventrad, called upon Crown Prince Amantis Viromaro to get to Helmira as soon as possible to take over state functions and prepare for the official coronation. Whilst his wife Freya was send east with a royal carriage and a large escort of guards, the Crown Prince travelled to the port city of Kreonix. Whilst there, a massive storm began to gather, one of the strongest in living memory. Still, feeling it was his duty to be in Helmira as soon as possible, and wanting to give his father Alexander his last honours, Amantis offered a great sum of gold to the ship that would take him to the imperial city. A small Alcanzari slavers vessel, which had just offloaded its cargo, took the money and set sail straight away. In the Dodehavet Sea the ship struck an unmarked reef, causing it to tear in two and sink within a minute, leaving only one survivor. The Crown Prince was never found.
When in the morning the news of the death of both the Emperor and the Crown Prince reached Helmira, panic ruled over the White-Gold Tower. the last heir, Prince Louis Viromaro, was nowhere to be found, and so the Grand Chancellor had to act as temporary regent whilst imperial agents searched across the Empire for the prince.
After two weeks General Borgstia of the Imperial Legion decided to use the chaos by marching his troops into the White-Gold Tower. Declaring that House Viromaro had gone extinct and the Grand Chancellor was trying to make himself the new Emperor. The Grand Chancellor was locked in the dungeon of the Tower, but was freed by Viromaro loyalists and managed to escape Helmira, rushing to get back to his ancestral Ardoragh. General Borgstia summoned the six High-Lords, demanding that they would swear fealty to him. Instead, five of the High-Lords marched their armies towards Helmira and laid siege upon the city, demanding that the general would surrender himself. At the same time Prince Louis was found. The young prince had indulged in a months long private party in the grand but extremely remote Sanssouci Palace. He was rushed to Helmira, where he joined the armies of his High-Lords. Upon seeing that House Viromaro had not fallen, the city rose up against the general, rushing the Tower and lynching him in the city streets.
