Ardor's Lodge is the palacial hunting lodge of House Viromaro located in north western Ardoragh. It was constructed by order of Emperor Alexander Viromaro as a hunting lodge. His sons the crown-prince Amantis and prince Louis (the future Emperor Louis) were born in the palace and spend most of their childhoods on the palace's grounds. Emperor Louis never used the palace, during which time it fell into disrepair. His daughter, Empress Theodosia, restored the palace to its former glory and uses it whenever she wishes to visit northern Ardoragh.

The Palace consists of a domed grand hall, with two wings, the Imperial Wing and the Guest Wing.

The Imperial Wing houses the Emperor's study, bedroom, breakfast room and living room, as well as a room for the imperial children, an indoor swimming pool and a model train room.

The Guest Wing houses a Honey Room, grand dining hall, three guest rooms (The Yellow Room, the Green Room and the Raggisar Room (former Dragestein Room)), as well as a large kitchen, storage room and room for the 10-men permanent Imperial Legion Guard.

There are two attics, indoor stables and one large basement including an emergency jail cell.

The palace, like 't Koetshuys, is characterized by thick walls and several heat sources including central heating and a great many fireplaces to ensure a high quality of life in the harsh Ardoraghi winters. On top of the palace, 't Koetshuys and the church are bells that ring once whenever it turns either day or night.

Prince Marcus W.L. Von Roterstein was a member of the Ardoraghi royal family during the late Fourth and early Fifth Era. He was the son of the youngest brother of the current High-Lord and King of Ardoragh and the third in line for the Ardoraghi throne. He is best known for his brutal kidnapping and murder in the Fifth Era by unknown assailants.

== Early life ==
Born as Lord Marcus Von Roterstein in Ardoria, the young lord studied law, earning his bachelor degree at the Imperial University of Ardoria, and getting his master degree at the Imperial University of Helmira. For most of his life he lived in a manor house in Helmira, from where he practices law.

During the late Fourth Era, just before the Grand War, he got into conflict with his uncle when he published a paper accusing the Ardoraghi Duke Ulv of facilitating piracy in the Dodehavet Sea in a vast scheme by the Ardoraghi nobility to avoid paying the increasingly high taxes to then-Emperor Louis Viromaro. He was recalled to Ardoria, where after staying at the High-Lord's castle for five months he formally renounced his earlier accusations after his father met with the High-Lord. Although facing no official legal repercussions he was no longer allowed to practice law in the province of Ardoragh following this what has been usually referred to as the Piracy Papers.

After the Reforma Carta reformed the Province of Ardoragh into the Kingdom of Ardoragh, the Von Roterstein family gained the official status of one the Kythiran royal houses. Ever since his full name and title is His Royal Highness Marcus Whaza Leonard Von Roterstein, Prince of Ardoragh.

After the death of his father two years after the Reforma Carta he inherited a small fortune of 800,000 Florynts. With this, he purchased the ruin of a Third Era castle, Chateau Imperia, deep in northern Attica for 150,000 Florynts, including a massive area of land around it, with a total surface area larger than many cities.

He spend another 50,000 Florynts renovating the castle, as well as expanding the living spaces, building an extra tower and a grand hall. He renamed his new summer house '''Chateau Roterhal''<nowiki/>', or simply known by the local villagers as ''The Roterhal''.

During the renovation project he had to fight off several poachers and loggers who were taking from the castle’s lands. This caused him to become interested in preservation of Kythira’s vast nature reserves, and he donated 100,000 Florynts to the Hjarta Foundation. Shocked by the treatment of several slaves owned by the company that renovated the castle, 15 of which died during the construction of the grand hall alone, the prince became a staunch abolitionist, pouring another 150,000 Florynts into anti-slavery causes across the Empire, functioning as one of the primary patrons of abolitionist philosopher Edmund Arouet.

In an effort to restore relations with the rest of his family after the Piracy Papers he began a long correspondence with his uncle, who was now King of Ardoragh. He agreed to a political marriage with Lady Blanchard, daughter of the Marquis of Blanchard. Two months before the wedding was set to take place he was send to Solleria as a formal guest of the High-Lord of Alcanzar, King Vinkhuys. During this visit he, together with his staff and a handful of Alcanzari royal guards visited the ruins of the Imperial Summerhal Palace. During this visit, their party was ambushed. All the royal guards were killed and several members of his staff were wounded. The prince himself was kidnapped by unknown assailants and send southwards on horseback to an unknown destination. That same day a ransom note was delivered to the Ardoraghi consulate, demanding 5 million Florynts for the prince's safe return.

After two months of not getting any response from the High-Lord of Ardoragh, and the Imperial Police being unable to track down the kidnappers, the charred remains of the Prince were returned to Helmira. Identified by his ruby necklace, the Prince's body was returned to Ardoria for burial. His fortune and estates went to his butler, Lord Alfred Shackleford. This was however succesfully protested by the Rotersteiner family, who had the butler arrested and imprisoned. After almost 2 years the Kythiran Supreme Court decided in the case Shackleford V von Roterstein that Shackleford should be freed and the Chateau belongs to him and his family. Shackleford had already died in a Ardoraghi prison after a riot by the time this verdict was proclaimed. His widow and sons inherited the Chateau, and settled for 9000 Florynts with House Von Roterstein.

The Kythiran Imperial Navy is the continuation of the Kythiran Royal Navy that was founded during the Second Era. After the founding of the Empire, the fleet mostly used remnants from the Helmsian Fleet to patrol the coast of the young Empire, until the Fourth Era, when an arms race began between the Imperius Reich and the Kythiran Empire. This resulted in the Mediori Fleet being constructed under the rule of Emperor Charles I Viromaro, which to this day is the heart of the Imperial Navy. The Imperial Navy proved vital during the Dervich Incident and the Grand War.

Lord William B. Hawthorne is a retired Kythiran general, veteran of the Grand War, and the current Grand Chancellor of the Kythiran Empire under Empress Theodosia Viromaro. Born into a minor noble family, he rose through the Imperial Army through merit rather than inheritance, earning distinction for his logistical skill and defensive command during the later years of the war. Nicknamed ''The Keeper of Chesterfield'' he managed to maintain Kythiran control over the city despite a long siege.

After the war, Hawthorne transitioned into government service, overseeing demobilization and reconstruction efforts before entering the imperial court. He was appointed Grand Chancellor early in Theodosia’s reign, where he became a central figure in stabilizing the Empire during its postwar recovery.

He is the driving force behind the Theodosian Codex, the first formal constitution of the Kythiran Empire.

The Imperial Helmsian Theatre Society (IHTS, colloquially called '''Itz''<nowiki/>') was founded during the Second Era by a group of citizens living in the Kingdom of Helmsia. With conflicts and wars happening across Minecraftia, they found it necessary not just to provide entertainment to the masses, but to preserve oral histories from even before the First Era in the form of plays and songs. Sometimes they would make more relevant plays, some of which would even make fun of organizations that did not officially exist, such as the Redstone Alliance, called the Order of the Lamps in their play "''A Crumbling Tower''".

During the Great Grief their theatre building survived much of the carnage, and on a smaller scale they were able to continue holding small, simple plays throughout the Dark Ages, always ensuring the favour of every [[Warlord]] that took control of the Ruins of Helmsia.

After the formation of the Kythiran Empire and the unification of the old capital cities of Kythira and Helmsia into the imperial city of Helmira, the society came under the protection of the Kythiran Emperor, gaining the 'Imperial' title. Ever since it has been tradition that a member of the imperial family opens every premiere. They were allowed to keep the Helmsian portion of their name, making them in some ways a rare relic of a past long-gone. They operate in numerous theatres across Helmira, but sometimes travel outside of the city, performing in cities such as Ardoria and even Imperia.

Although usually performing for the public, they are available - for a very high fee - for private shows. These are usually hosted by Kythira's wealthiest whenever they want to show a play or concert, often in places where Helmira's theatres are too remote, such as the [[Sanssouci Palace]].

Emperor Louis Viromaro, known as Louis ''The Party Prince'' in his youth, Louis ''The Builder'', Louis ''The Despot'' (Only in Ardoragh) and later Louis ''The Warrior'' during his reign, and Louis ''The Unfortunate'' after his abdication, was the Emperor of the [[Empire of Kythira|Kythiran Empire]] during the last decades of the Fourth Era. He ruled for 22 years, the last 8 being preoccupied with the Grand War, though much of that he only de jure ruled as Emperor, with his son, crown-prince Charles ruling as prince-regent in the name of his father.

The start of his reign was considered a golden age of Viromaro absolutism. He dismissed the Council of Provinces and greatly reduced the powers of the High-Lords. His massive taxation schemes brought the state and House Viromaro itself incredible wealth, which he put into expanding Helmira and preparing his armies and navy for the Grand War.

In the middle of his reign he was responsible for escalating the Dervich Incident, which was the catalyst for the Raggisar Revolution. This gave him the casus beli to invade Imperius with what would be known as the Grand War. After eight years of fighting the Kythirans were forced to retreat and accept a peace deal that almost bankrupted the Crown. To prevent a civil war the High-Lords had him sign the Reforma Carta, ending Viromaro absolutism, and forced him to abdicate in favour of his daughter, Empress Theodosia Viromaro.

He died seven years after the Grand War's conclusion at the Sanssouci Palace, aged 68.

== Youth ==

Louis Viromaro was born in Ardoragh, in the [[The Skaði Palace|Skaði Palace]], the second son of [[Emperor Alexander Viromaro]]. His older brother [[House Hjarta|Amantis Viromaro]] was born three years earlier in the same palace. They both grew up in Helmira, until he was seventeen, when he was send to study at the University of Ardoria where his brother was already attending his own education. During their studies Amantis met Freya Hjarta, a woman of low Ardoraghi nobility. They fell deeply in love, and after their studies were completed got married and stayed in Ardoragh. Louis rented a villa in the city, refusing the use the High-Lord's castle as a residence, and never attending any of the High-Lord's formal events.

Louis mean-whilst went back to Helmira after his studies, with a personal disdain for Ardoraghi life, which he considered as uncivilised and old fashioned, using [[Winterhal|Fort Winterhal]] as his private residence. Here he would throw lavish parties with many esteemed guests from across Minecraftia, including [[Duke Thomas Mace of Lotric]], who was a personal friend of Louis and his best man at his royal wedding to Prisca Vinkhuys, the daughter of the then [[High-Lord of Attica]], when he was 30 years old. Like his older brother, Louis too was married inside the [[White Gold Tower|White-Gold Tower's throne room]].

In total he and Prisca would have 4 children. Princess Theodosia, Prince Charles, Princess Alexovia and Princess Maceny.

== Reign ==
The reign of Emperor Louis Viromaro started when his father, [[Emperor Alexander Viromaro|Alexander ''The Peacemaker'' Viromaro]], died in a hunting accident when Louis was 39 years of age. His older brother, Crown Prince Amantis, drowned on his way to the coronation. Tragedy struck again when the [[Imperius|Imperius Reich]] used the chaos in the Empire to wipe out the rebellious [[Duchy of Lotric]] in the [[Lotrican Genocide]]. Although he tried to send aid to the Lotricans and Duke Mace, he struggled with the bureaucracy of not yet being crowned, and the unwillingness of the provinces to send aid fast enough.

Following his coronation, he immediately fired Grand Chancellor Von Reventrad, who had served under his father, and initiated policies that focused on expanding the powers of the Crown, whilst repealing laws and decrees of his father that gave more independence to the Six Provinces. In order to fund his ambitious goals he increased taxes on the provinces ten-fold, draining their coffers. The Imperial Senate and the Provincial Council both protested, upon which Louis had the speakers of both Houses arrested and imprisoned, and the Senate and Council dissolved.

With the incredible wealth this gave him he ordered the renovations and expansions of the imperial city of Helmira, the largest construction project in history, even needing to hire labourers, craftsmen and architects from the Imperius Reich to make sure the project met his tight deadlines.

The elderly High-Lord of Ardoragh tried but failed to return the autonomy of his province, much to the displeasure of his eldest son, Lord Von Roterstein. When the latter became High-Lord upon his father's death, the Emperor and his High-Lord clashed heavily. When the High-Lord began demanding a return of his province' autonomy, restoration of the Provincial Council and a lower tax rate, the Emperor refused. In response to this, the Ardoraghi ruler began to close down border crossings and pay smugglers and pirates to evade the harsh Kythiran taxes. Because of this, the Emperor began to look for a potential House to replace the Von Rotersteiners as High-Lords of Ardoragh. When he learned that the Ardoraghi court had made all religions legal within Ardoragh's borders, going against Louis' Holy Cee Doctrine, the Emperor instead had the Ministry of the Interior draw up plans for a separation of Ardoragh into two separate, smaller provinces, where House Ulv would've been made the new High-Lords of Southern Ardoragh, and Northern Ardoragh going to the Duke of Kreonix.

Before these plans could come to fruition however, the Emperor's attention was occupied by trouble in the east. The Dervich Incident led to the start of the Raggisar Revolution, which Louis saw as the opportunity to finally conquer Imperius and make all of Minecraftia a single state, leading to the Grand War.

== Revolution, War & Reforms ==

The Kythiran Invasion of Imperius at the beginning was lauded as a great success, as the Kythirans successfully captured cities that had been part of the Reich since its inception, such as Dorwall and Chesterfield. However, when the warring parties of the revolution, that had devolved into a full civil war, began to unite their forces against the Kythirans, their quick march towards victory dragged to a standstill. A massive assault on Imperia was unsuccessful in capturing the Imperius' capital, partially because Louis insisted that a large part of the Kythiran forces would travel south, to capture and free the ruins of the Duchy of Lotric, 20 years after the genocide. Refusing to listen to the advise of his generals and admirals, he continued to plunge the forces into several failed attacks, until the Imperius forces eventually started to push the Kythirans back towards the Narrow Sea.

During this time, Louis spend almost all his waking and sleeping hours in the White-Gold Tower, going over battle plans, writing to the High-Lords to demand more soldiers, ships, weapons and Florynts, whilst also trying to continue the rule the fracturing Empire.

After a visit to her husband in the Tower, the Empress Prisca Viromaro took a carriage with the curtains down, to keep out the summer heat, to the Royal Helmsdeep Theatre Society to enjoy the premiere of a new opera about the Kythiran victories during the war. Goran Prodan, an Ardoraghi-Nationalist born and raised in a communal farm in southern Ardoragh, threw a bomb into the carriage. Unable to see the occupants, he assumed that the Emperor would be on board. The Empress died on the square in front of the Arch of Unity. Goran was arrested by royal guards, and executed by public drowning in the Bay of Splendour. According to members of staff, the Emperor had a telescope installed in the imperial appartement of the Tower so he could observe it personally.

Emperor Louis became despondent after the death of Empress Prisca. Gone were the days of his larger than life personality and personal extravagance. He locked himself in his office in the top of the White-Gold Tower, refusing to let any of his staff or family even enter the imperial appartement. This did give the Kythirans a short series of successes in the war, for it gave the supreme command of the armies back to the Grand Marshal and the Grand Admiral, who were now able to lead a series of tactical retreats, in order to regroup for a final attempt at taking Imperia.

Crown Prince Charles and Princess Theodosia were send back to Helmira. The princess was moved into the Villa Altojardin under strict protection by the Imperial Guard. Charles took over the government in the form of regent-prince.

During the last decisive Battle for Imperia, desperately needed Ardoraghi reinforcements never arrived, resulting in the loss of the battle. This total loss of morale resulted in several mutinies across the Kythiran armies, as well as protests in the Empire itself once the news broke.

The Grand Marshal and the Grand Admiral both met up in Chesterfield, where they decided to send an envoy to Imperia in order to offer a truce in order to eventually move towards a peace treaty. In this they did not involve the Emperor, who still was not allowing anyone to meet with him, or the prince-regent, whom they deemed to be to determinate to win the war by force.

to sign a peace treaty on the H.M.S. Eastera. Following this peace treaty, the civil war in Imperius continued, until the eventual success of the revolutionaries and the declaration of the Raggisar Republic.

In Helmira, meanwhile, the Crown was in a desperate position, where it need to pay for the rebuilding of her armies and navies, as well as pay reparations to the new Republic. To get this money, the Crown borrowed heavily from the Mercenary Bank, whilst also demanding large sums of extra tribute from her provinces.

Using the opportunity, the leaders of Ardoragh, Attica and Alcanzar, the largest provinces of the Empire, banned together and presented the Grand Chancellor with the Reforma Carta, a set of demands and reforms, in exchange for which they would help finance the Crown's rebuilding and reparations.

Knowing that the alternative would be a civil war that would be extremely hard for the Crown to win, the Emperor conceded with all demands, and together with the Grand Marshal and all the High-Lords signed the Reforma Carta into law. The last demand of the Reforma Carta was that Emperor Louis abdicated in favour of his first born child, which he did the very next day.

Because Louis had expected to make his oldest son, Charles Viromaro, who was two years younger than Theodosia, heir to the Empire, the former had been trained since he could walk to become the next ruler. Crown Prince Charles had served during the Kythiran Invasion as a general in the invading armies, and was well known as a Viromaro absolutist who even challenged the Ardoraghi High-Lord to a duel, but fearing that the crown prince might cheat, the Ardoraghi High-Lord never responded to this challenge.

Specifically because of this, the Reforma Carta demanded to make the oldest child the heir, forgoing the classical agnatic primogeniture that was the standard in the Empire up until the Carta, in order to increase their chances of moulding the new Empress into a more lenient figure.

== Post-Abdication ==

After his abdication Louis left Helmira and public life for good. For a few months he lived in the tiny Villa Isla de Peligro. When this was attacked by local villagers, he requested a new residence more befitting of his status. Empress Theodosia granted this, and he was moved to the grander [[Sanssouci Palace]]. His memoirs "''Treason Within''", where he blamed House Von Dragestein and the iniators of the Reforma Carta for the failure of the Grand War famously flopped.

Seven years after the Grand War's conclusion Louis Viromaro died. He passed away in his sleep at the Sanssouci Palace, aged 68. His body was discovered in the morning by his butler when the latter was delivering his breakfast.

Across the Republic of Raggisar wide spread celebrations were observed when the news of the Emperor's death reached them.

== Youth ==
Princess Theodosia Viromaro was born in the in the late Fourth Era in Fort Winterhal. She grew up in the Imperial Palace in Helmira. Once her younger brother, Prince Charles Viromaro was born two years later, it was assumed she would be married off in the future but would serve no further role in government. She studied medicine at both the Imperial University in Helmira, after which she moved to Ardoria, against her father's wishes, to study at Ardoria University. She was known as a hardworking, quiet student, who often used her vast Viromaro allowance of 32,000 Florynts a week to help the local poor of Ardoria. In the weekends she was a frequent guest of [[House Hjarta|Lady Hjarta]], using her access to the Viromaro fortune to help support her efforts of conserving Ardoragh's rich nature reserves. When not at the Hjarta Palace she would live in the Skaði Palace.

When the Kythiran Invasion of Imperius began, she and her brother, Crown-Prince Charles Viromaro, were ordered by their father to join the war effort. Charles was promoted to Admiral, and was put in charge of the Second Attican Fleet. Theodosia was send to Imperius, serving as a nurse in Dorwall and Chesterfield. After the assassination of her mother, Empress Prisca Viromaro, she was rushed to Helmira, where she took up residence in the Villa Altojardin, under constant protection by the Imperial Guard.

== Ascension to Power ==

The Reforma Carta suddenly brought Princess Theodosia back into the forefront. Article X stated:

"(...) ''the Emperor must abdicate his throne in favour of his first-born child, Princess Theodosia Viromaro.".''

The Chancellor immediately took Theodosia under his guidance. Within 48 hours after the signing of the Reforma Carta, Emperor Louis Viromaro had signed his formal abdication. Three days after Theodosia was crowned Empress, in a sober coronation ceremony in the White-Gold Tower.

Her younger brother, Prince Charles Viromaro, was not present at the coronation, for he was using the event as a distraction to steal a part of the Viromaro fortune hidden in the Sanssouci Palace, after which he went into a self-imposed exile as a pretender to the Kythiran throne, refusing to acknowledge his sister's legitimacy. Her father was banned from the coronation, although he was present in Helmira at the time. At the recommendation of the Chancellor she banned her father from entering Helmira a week after her coronation, forcing him to live further away from the center of imperial power. Her brother was formally stripped of his titles, last name, bank accounts and property within the Empire, and an arrest warrant was issued for him being captured alive. A reward for this was set at 6.25 million Florynts. The KIA was ordered to find and neutralise any supporters of Charles, after lord Edward Blanchard attempted to run for public office on a restoration of Charles to the throne. This movement, the so called Charlesians, were swiftly made illegal and went underground.

== Life as Empress ==
In the first four years since the start of her reign, Princess Theodosia, now 30 years old, has spend most of her rule on restoring the Pax Minecraftia and faith in House Viromaro. Due to her dedication to her job she usually resides in the White-Gold Tower's Imperial Appartement. She uses the Imperial Palace mostly for state functions, and occasionally travels to the Skaði Palace in Ardoragh to visit Lady Hjarta. One of her first acts as Empress was to establish the The Viromaro Foundation, in order to both atone for her family's role in the Grand War and to improve the public image of House Viromaro. She is a supporter of the abolitionist philosopher Edmund Arouet, and is a firm supporter of the new Constitutional Monarchy. She has close ties with her Grand Chancellor, Lord Hawthorne, and her Imperial Secretary, Bernhard Magrak.

== Private Life ==
During her father's reign Theodosia was briefly betrothed to Alistair Castillo, son of Grand Marshal Alfredo Castillo. This was arranged by her father, and was undone by imperial decree after she was crowned Empress. She has had several suitors since. The former Crown Prince of Imperius unsuccessfully tried to seduce her at a ball in Helmira. During the birthday celebrations of the Ardoraghi High-Lord Von Roterstein he privately offered his oldest son's hand in marriage, which she also declined. This lack of an heir is a great concern for many in the imperial court. Theodosia's very close friendship with Anna Fillefort, a peasant-born from Dorwall, has caused rumours to spread around the upper classes of the Empire. Anne, who was made a Duchess and appointed as a general consul to Theodosia, is often with the Empress, usually staying in the guest suite of the White-Gold Tower's Imperial Appartement.

It was the largest and deadliest war in Minecraftian history, spanning over 8 years, resulting in the collapse of the Imperius monarchy and the near disintegration of the Kythiran Empire, which was prevented by the Reforma Carta.

== Pre-War Events ==
The Lotrican Genocide, the Dervich Incident and the resulting Treaty of Altojardin had greatly damaged the reputation of House Von Dragesteiner and the monarchy as a whole. The loss of territory had been an enormous scandal, filling even the pro-Dragestein newspapers of the reich. Riots broke loose in Imperia and across the reich, which the royal guards struggled to put down. General Von Wolfswald took control of the city of Eisenturm, locking the Count of Eisenturm in the city's dungeon, and declaring himself interim-president of the 'Imperius Republic'. The Kaiser immediately demanded that Von Wolfswald would either surrender to the reich or execute himself.

For the safety of the royal family, the Grand Marshal suggested they'd travel to the royal palace deep in Imperius territory. As the carriage travelled through the forests of the Reich, it was suddenly ambushed by revolutionary soldiers. They shot the Grand Marshal as he tried to fight them off, and arrested the kaiser and his family, transporting them to a farm nearby. Here they were stripped of their valuables and locked in the basement.

== Cause ==
The Kythirans did not want a republican government in charge. Preferring a monarch and a system more like their own, they immediately began preparations to restore order in Imperius, end the republic and return the Kaiser as the leader of the Reich, although with considerably less powers than before. The Kythirans hoped that, in return for helping the Kaiser regain his throne, they would be able to annex large swaths of territory of the Reich.

== The Start of the War ==
The uneasy months before the Grand War were spent with alleged naval exercises in the Mediori Sea. In reality this was a front to collect as many troops as possible from across the Empire. Eventually a force of 300,000 soldiers had gathered near the Mediori Sea, soldiers from across the Empire, though Alcanzar and Attica delivered the most troops. Meanwhile, Kythiran spies from the KIA infiltrated the Raggisar Navy, bribing several members of the Raggisari Senfina Fleet. In a cold and dark winter night, at 3:00 AM, these spies set fire to their ships, burning down several dozen of the fleet, whilst several Kythiran merchant vessels blew themselves up at harbours for the Senfina Fleet, blocking the exit to the seas. Though many of these traitors were caught, some managed to escape, and through their KIA contacts managed to get a new identity in the Empire.

With the Senfina Sea opened up, the invasion began. 300,000 Kythiran troops boarded onto the many ships of the Mediori Fleet and sailed east. Being able to ship around 3000 soldiers per crossing, the fleet began its first wartime excursion out into the Southern Sea. Part of the fleet went south-east, bringing Kythiran soldiers as far as the east coast of Imperius. The rest of the fleet went north, and split into two attacking forces. The first place to fall under Kythiran fire was the City of Chesterfield. Under heavy bombardement, and totally outnumbered and outgunned, the city watch quickly raised a white flag above their walls. The Kythirans had their first foothold in Imperius. Quickly, more ships began to ferry soldiers from the Mediori Fleet and unloading them in Chesterfield. At 5:00 AM, the Kythiran ambassador to Imperia presented the formal Declaration of War to the Raggisar president.

A Fjellsoldat soldier who had survived this first attack however had managed to mount his horse, and began an exhausting ride across the entire Imperius western coast, warning all settlements and forts along his way about the incoming Kythiran invaders. Eventually, he confiscated a boat, and managed to reach and warn Dorwall about the incoming invaders.

''Captain Fernando Cortez'' was the highest ranking officer of the Imperius Royal Navy present on Dorwall at the time, and he swiftly took action. Arresting all foreigners present in Dorwall at the time, most of whom traders from Kythira. These people were taken aboard a series of confiscated ships, together with all women and children of Dorwall, and evacuated north towards Imperia. All men still in Dorwall were brought to the docks, where they were rationed out the sparse amount of weapons and armour left in the trading city.

As the last ship with refugees left the island, the first Kythiran Imperial Navy warships could be seen arriving in the horizon. The makeshift battalion was no match for the Kythiran Navy, which acted relatively restrained compared to later years, killing only a dozen local soldiers, sending most towards Alcanzar as prisoners of war. Here, many would be sold off into slavery, with only a small portion of the original population of Dorwall returning after the war. The republican mayor of Dorwall would be hanged by the Kythirans. Captain Cortez managed to escape his temporary jail in Dorwall, stealing a rowboat at night and managed to get to the Imperius mainland, where he would rendezvous with a Republican army under the command of ''Thomas "Cobblestone Wall" Jansohn''. The very next day, to celebrate their victory, Emperor Louis Viromaro himself visited the island for 2 hours, congratulating the troops before returning back to Helmira.

The island itself became the a Kythiran stronghold in the Narrow Sea, being used as a vital port for transporting more troops into mainland Imperius.

== Battle of the Northern Sea ==
When the Kythirans wanted to move their fleet further north, towards Imperia however, they were ambushed. First, a large field of sea mines were spread over the Redstonian Strait. The ships that managed to pass these fell under heavy fire from coastal batteries operated by troops warned by the Fjellsoldat soldier. Then, in the Northern Sea, the Kythiran Imperial Navy met most of the Raggisar Navy, and the largest sea battle in history unfolded, known as the ''Battle of the Northern Sea''. Over the course of four days of continued fighting, hundreds of ships and thousands of soldiers on both sides fell and sunk into the ice cold sea.

This battle destroyed most of the Imperius Royal Navy and greatly crippled the Kythiran Imperial Navy. The remaining Kythiran ships, still under heavy bombardment from the batteries on the Raggisar coast, retreated back to Dorwall and Chesterfield.

Of the 453 Kythiran ships that participated in the Battle, only 72 returned. Admiral Amedeo, who led the Kythiran Imperial Navy, send a letter to the White Gold Tower, requesting that the Province of Ardoragh would send its navy, one of the world's most advanced at the time, to aid in the war. Meanwhilst, with the sea no longer a viable route towards Imperia, the Kythirans began their full land invasion.

== Chaos in Imperia ==
In Imperia the news of the Kythiran invasion was causing mass chaos. The city guard struggled to contain the looting that occurred almost every night, with many citizens fleeing into the countryside. The government buildings were shut down, but the operation to evacuate the valuable inventories of these buildings was extremely slow to get off the ground due to the massive amount of bureaucracy by the city police. By the time the evacuation crew arrived, many artifacts, including a great many historic ones, had been looted. A week after the riots began, the Palace of the Dragons, the royal palace in Imperia, began to burn. Local firefighters managed to save much of the exterior of the building, but the majority of the interior was destroyed. The prevailing theory is that the palace itself had been looted, and the fire was a way to cover up any tracks of the theft. After the war one of the former crown jewels of the Von Dragesteiner dynasty ended up in the hands of

With the Republican Armies approaching from the east, and the Kythirans approaching from the west, the Monarchists leader, Senator Meyer, decided to abandon the capital and escape north, taking with them the remaining ships of the Imperius Royal Navy still present in Imperia. Due to their dwindling troops however, some of these ships had to be abandoned. Rather than leave them for the Republicans, they decided to scuttle them in Dragons Bay.

Groups of Republican fanatics stormed the Zitadellenturm, taking control of the armoury and becoming the Democratically Organised Council of Free and Equal Citizens of Imperius, or DOCFECI.

Grand Duke Wulfhere Von Dragestein, a nephew of the Kaiser who had stayed in the capital in his role as Commander of the City Guard, was arrested by the DOCFECI, tried and found guilty of being an 'Enemy of the Revolution', and publicly executed. This began a reign of terror, wherein the DOCFECI ruthlessly prosecuted anyone they suspected of having even the slightest Monarchist sympathies. This reign of terror, called the ''Month of Tears'', only ended when the Republican army took control of the city. General Von Wolfswald used the Zitadellenturm as his temporary base of operations. From here, he commanded the Republican armies, which were fighting the Kythirans on the west, south and east, and the Monarchists in the north.

== Kythiran Advance ==
As General Von Wolfswald settled into Imperia, five Kythiran Armies were marching into Imperius.

* Army Group A, Operating from Dorwall, marched alongside Imperius' second largest river, which led to the forests south of Imperia.
* Army Group B, Operating from Chesterfield, marched south towards the remains of the Duchy of Lotric.
* Army Group C, Operating from the Mediori Fleet, had landed on the eastern shore of Imperius, and was marching west, through lands that were flatter than the west coast, but covering a much longer distance, which was harder to supply.
* Army Group D, Operating from Marsadini, crossed the mountains to meet up with Army Group A from the south.
* Army Group E, Operating from Solleria, also marched to Lotric in order to meet up with Army Group B.

The numerically superior Republicans send eight army groups south to intercept Kythira's Army Group B and E. During the Battle of Lotric, the Republican Army faced a massive defeat, losing a total of seven army groups. This was because only two army groups had managed to reach Lotric at all, the others had been stalled by fighting with Monarchists armies under the command of Senator Meyer.

This Kythiran victory showed General Von Wolfswald that the civil war had to stop first, in order to reunite the armies of Imperius and fight the greater threat to their realm. To this end he invited Senator Meyer to Imperia, offering a full stalemate until the Kythirans were defeated, a full pardon for all who were fighting for the Monarchists cause after the war, and a position in the new Republican government.

== 'Liberation' of Lotric ==
As General Von Wolfswald set

Whilst these negotiations were underway, Kythiran Army Group B and E had fully taken control of the Duchy of Lotric. Here, they treated the local populace kindly, offering them food and other supplies. Important Lotrican artifacts were carefully packaged and shipped to Helmira. Any Lotrican citizen who so desired also received the ability to move to the Kythiran Empire, where they would be able to gain full citizenship in any of the regions, an offer that a great many Lotricans took.

It was at this time that the Kythiran Crown Prince, Charles Viromaro, who had received the rank of Admiral of the Kythiran Imperial Navy, landed in Lotric for a surprise visit to the Kythiran troops. A mass parade was held through the old city ruins, and a week of celebrations were held for their "Liberation from Imperius oppression". Crown Prince Charles was quoted in the Helmiran Times as saying ''"This is a glorious day, not just for our Empire, but for Minecraftia and indeed for justice. Finally House Mace has been avenged, and Lotric is free.".''

== The Great March ==
After the celebrations, the Kythiran armies focused on taking the midlands of Imperius through a combined attack. At this point morale in Imperius had fallen massively in the civilian population after their armies had suffered loss after loss. This caused many cities and towns to surrender to the Kythirans without a fight. Those places that did fight back were met with great acts of brutality, hoping to squash any rebellion. Any city, town or village that surrendered without a fight was spared, although the occasional looting did happen. If a city resisted and after that fell, the Kythirans responded by publicly executing all "Men of fighting age", whilst sending at least half of the remaining population back to Solleria, where they were sold on the Alcanzari slave markets. If there were not enough ships in a harbour at any time to transport all the new prisoners, the remaining Imperians were simply dumped into the cold seas and kicked back when trying to get back to land. Learning of the atrocities committed against their countrymen caused a flood of refugees that was yet another drain for the already struggling supply chains of the Republican forces.

At this point the Republican and Monarchist forces had fully united under the shared command of General Von Wolfswald and Senator Meyer. This, together with the massive mountain ranges that spread across Imperius and the start of winter, caused the Kythiran march to slowly grind to a halt. Grand Marshal Agricola and Grand Admiral Amedeo personally travelled to Helmira to convince the Emperor that his latest order that ''"No Kythiran shall retreat."'' would be retracted in favour of allowing for tactical retreats. The Emperor however rejected this, and almost had the two commanders arrested on the spot for high-treason.

Disgruntled, both commanders returned to the front. On their journey, the ''H.M.S. LeGrave,'' which was carrying Grand Marshal Agricola was attacked and sunk by an Imperius battle-cruiser submarine. This caused his deputy, Alfredo Castillo to be promoted to the role of Grand Marshal. Castillo had risen through the ranks of the Imperial Legion fully based on his merit, rather than his heritage, which was how Grand Marshal Agricola had received his rank. Grand Admiral Amedeo wrote in his diary: ''"Although Lord Agricola was a good man, and a brave soldier, he was not the shiniest of diamonds. It may be harsh, but I think his dying was the best tactical move he could've done for winning the war."''.

Grand Marshal Castillo ordered the Kythiran armies to dig in for the winter, developing a series of trenches and temporary forts from where they could defend themselves against the continued attacks by the Republicans. Admiral Charles Viromaro, against the council of the other admirals, ordered a new attack on Imperia. His fleet was however mostly decimated before it could even arrive near Imperia, for the foggy and dark winter Northern Sea made traversing the fields of ice near impossible. He managed to make it back to Dorwall, where he was attacked whilst walking near the docks. The attackers were never found, and the young prince was send to a field hospital where he would spend several weeks recovering. Suspecting a mutiny resulted in the Emperor ordering the execution of over two hundred random sailors from Charles' fleet.

As the winter made way for spring, the Kythirans left their fortifications, slowly trying to advance further into Republican territory. At this point the Kythirans controlled around 30% of Imperius territory. Within this land, a massive propaganda campaign was being held, with the goal of convincing the local population that the Kythirans were only there to restore the Dragestein monarchy and that Von Wolfswald and Meyer were traitors to Imperius. Some Imperians believed in this so much that they volunteered to fight with the Kythirans. These peoples were organised into the Dragestein Battalion, which soon became one of the most brutal but effective part of the Imperial Legion. They struck deep into Republican controlled territory, performing raids, heists and assassinations of Republican targets. Their commander, Anton Fritzi, had served in the Fjellsoldat but had been thrown into prison after stealing from the village bakery he was stationed at. The arrival of the Kythiran Legion in his town turned out to be his salvation, as the Kythirans freed him, after which he offered his services.

As summer came around, the Kythirans finally managed to break the deadlock, marching deeper into the Republican territories, until they eventually controlled around 60% of Imperius lands. Crown Prince Charles, having fully recovered, landed his new fleet on the southern Imperius coast with the intention of meeting up with Army Group E. This succeeded, and the two armies marched north together, during which the prince tried but failed to take full command of the army group. As they marched over the Battenberg, they marched straight into an Republican army that was two times as large as the Kythiran army group. Attempting to retreat, they ran straight into a piercing manoeuvre by General Von Wolfswald. During this Battle of the Battenberg, the entire Kythiran Army Group E was lost. The commander, General Pendragon, killed himself before he could be captured. Crown Prince Charles Viromaro was captured alive and send to Imperia as a war trophy. Here he stayed for a total of three months, until winter eventually came, and the armies fell into another stalemate. This caused a massive drop in morale, that resulted in a wide spread retreat across all lines, until only about 25% of Imperius territory was still held.

The Grand Chancellor eventually managed to negotiate a prisoner swap with General Von Wolfswald and Senator Meyer. 40,000 Imperians who had been sold into slavery in Alcanzar were bought back by the Crown, and the Kythirans let it be known that all those people would either be freed together with the Crown Prince, or all slain. Von Wolfswald was forced to agree, and the freed slaves were send to Republican controlled Imperius territory, in exchange for the return of Charles Viromaro. The Crown Prince was welcomed back to Helmira with a series of parades, but the celebrations were short lived, as the remnants of the Imperius Royal Navy managed to suddenly and unexpectedly attack Marsadini. Although they only looted and burned down a portion of the city they

It was the largest and deadliest war in Minecraftian history, spanning over 8 years, resulting in the collapse of the Imperius monarchy and the near disintegration of the Kythiran Empire, which was prevented by the Reforma Carta.

== Pre-War Events ==
The Lotrican Genocide, the Dervich Incident and the resulting Treaty of Altojardin had greatly damaged the reputation of House Von Dragesteiner and the monarchy as a whole. The loss of territory had been an enormous scandal, filling even the pro-Dragestein newspapers of the reich. Riots broke loose in Imperia and across the reich, which the royal guards struggled to put down. General Von Wolfswald took control of the city of Eisenturm, locking the Count of Eisenturm in the city's dungeon, and declaring himself interim-president of the 'Imperius Republic'. The Kaiser immediately demanded that Von Wolfswald would either surrender to the reich or execute himself.

For the safety of the royal family, the Grand Marshal suggested they'd travel to the royal palace deep in Imperius territory. As the carriage travelled through the forests of the Reich, it was suddenly ambushed by revolutionary soldiers. They shot the Grand Marshal as he tried to fight them off, and arrested the kaiser and his family, transporting them to a farm nearby. Here they were stripped of their valuables and locked in the basement.

== Cause ==
The Kythirans did not want a republican government in charge. Preferring a monarch and a system more like their own, they immediately began preparations to restore order in Imperius, end the republic and return the Kaiser as the leader of the Reich, although with considerably less powers than before. The Kythirans hoped that, in return for helping the Kaiser regain his throne, they would be able to annex large swaths of territory of the Reich.

== The Start of the War ==
The uneasy months before the Grand War were spent with alleged naval exercises in the Mediori Sea. In reality this was a front to collect as many troops as possible from across the Empire. Eventually a force of 300,000 soldiers had gathered near the Mediori Sea, soldiers from across the Empire, though Alcanzar and Attica delivered the most troops. Meanwhile, Kythiran spies from the KIA infiltrated the Raggisar Navy, bribing several members of the Raggisari Senfina Fleet. In a cold and dark winter night, at 3:00 AM, these spies set fire to their ships, burning down several dozen of the fleet, whilst several Kythiran merchant vessels blew themselves up at harbours for the Senfina Fleet, blocking the exit to the seas. Though many of these traitors were caught, some managed to escape, and through their KIA contacts managed to get a new identity in the Empire.

With the Senfina Sea opened up, the invasion began. 300,000 Kythiran troops boarded onto the many ships of the Mediori Fleet and sailed east. Being able to ship around 3000 soldiers per crossing, the fleet began its first wartime excursion out into the Southern Sea. Part of the fleet went south-east, bringing Kythiran soldiers as far as the east coast of Imperius. The rest of the fleet went north, and split into two attacking forces. The first place to fall under Kythiran fire was the City of Chesterfield. Under heavy bombardement, and totally outnumbered and outgunned, the city watch quickly raised a white flag above their walls. The Kythirans had their first foothold in Imperius. Quickly, more ships began to ferry soldiers from the Mediori Fleet and unloading them in Chesterfield. At 5:00 AM, the Kythiran ambassador to Imperia presented the formal Declaration of War to the Raggisar president.

A Fjellsoldat soldier who had survived this first attack however had managed to mount his horse, and began an exhausting ride across the entire Imperius western coast, warning all settlements and forts along his way about the incoming Kythiran invaders. Eventually, he confiscated a boat, and managed to reach and warn Dorwall about the incoming invaders.

''Captain Fernando Cortez'' was the highest ranking officer of the Imperius Royal Navy present on Dorwall at the time, and he swiftly took action. Arresting all foreigners present in Dorwall at the time, most of whom traders from Kythira. These people were taken aboard a series of confiscated ships, together with all women and children of Dorwall, and evacuated north towards Imperia. All men still in Dorwall were brought to the docks, where they were rationed out the sparse amount of weapons and armour left in the trading city.

As the last ship with refugees left the island, the first Kythiran Imperial Navy warships could be seen arriving in the horizon. The makeshift battalion was no match for the Kythiran Navy, which acted relatively restrained compared to later years, killing only a dozen local soldiers, sending most towards Alcanzar as prisoners of war. Here, many would be sold off into slavery, with only a small portion of the original population of Dorwall returning after the war. The republican mayor of Dorwall would be hanged by the Kythirans. Captain Cortez managed to escape his temporary jail in Dorwall, stealing a rowboat at night and managed to get to the Imperius mainland, where he would rendezvous with a Republican army under the command of ''Thomas "Cobblestone Wall" Jansohn''. The very next day, to celebrate their victory, Emperor Louis Viromaro himself visited the island for 2 hours, congratulating the troops before returning back to Helmira.

The island itself became the a Kythiran stronghold in the Narrow Sea, being used as a vital port for transporting more troops into mainland Imperius.

== Battle of the Northern Sea ==
When the Kythirans wanted to move their fleet further north, towards Imperia however, they were ambushed. First, a large field of sea mines were spread over the Redstonian Strait. The ships that managed to pass these fell under heavy fire from coastal batteries operated by troops warned by the Fjellsoldat soldier. Then, in the Northern Sea, the Kythiran Imperial Navy met most of the Raggisar Navy, and the largest sea battle in history unfolded, known as the ''Battle of the Northern Sea''. Over the course of four days of continued fighting, hundreds of ships and thousands of soldiers on both sides fell and sunk into the ice cold sea.

This battle destroyed most of the Imperius Royal Navy and greatly crippled the Kythiran Imperial Navy. The remaining Kythiran ships, still under heavy bombardment from the batteries on the Raggisar coast, retreated back to Dorwall and Chesterfield.

Of the 453 Kythiran ships that participated in the Battle, only 72 returned. Admiral Amedeo, who led the Kythiran Imperial Navy, send a letter to the White Gold Tower, requesting that the Province of Ardoragh would send its navy, one of the world's most advanced at the time, to aid in the war. Meanwhilst, with the sea no longer a viable route towards Imperia, the Kythirans began their full land invasion.

== Chaos in Imperia ==
In Imperia the news of the Kythiran invasion was causing mass chaos. The city guard struggled to contain the looting that occurred almost every night, with many citizens fleeing into the countryside. The government buildings were shut down, but the operation to evacuate the valuable inventories of these buildings was extremely slow to get off the ground due to the massive amount of bureaucracy by the city police. By the time the evacuation crew arrived, many artifacts, including a great many historic ones, had been looted. A week after the riots began, the Palace of the Dragons, the royal palace in Imperia, began to burn. Local firefighters managed to save much of the exterior of the building, but the majority of the interior was destroyed. The prevailing theory is that the palace itself had been looted, and the fire was a way to cover up any tracks of the theft. After the war one of the former crown jewels of the Von Dragesteiner dynasty ended up in the hands of

With the Republican Armies approaching from the east, and the Kythirans approaching from the west, the Monarchists leader, Senator Meyer, decided to abandon the capital and escape north, taking with them the remaining ships of the Imperius Royal Navy still present in Imperia. Due to their dwindling troops however, some of these ships had to be abandoned. Rather than leave them for the Republicans, they decided to scuttle them in Dragons Bay.

Groups of Republican fanatics stormed the Zitadellenturm, taking control of the armoury and becoming the Democratically Organised Council of Free and Equal Citizens of Imperius, or DOCFECI.

Grand Duke Wulfhere Von Dragestein, a nephew of the Kaiser who had stayed in the capital in his role as Commander of the City Guard, was arrested by the DOCFECI, tried and found guilty of being an 'Enemy of the Revolution', and publicly executed. This began a reign of terror, wherein the DOCFECI ruthlessly prosecuted anyone they suspected of having even the slightest Monarchist sympathies. This reign of terror, called the ''Month of Tears'', only ended when the Republican army took control of the city. General Von Wolfswald used the Zitadellenturm as his temporary base of operations. From here, he commanded the Republican armies, which were fighting the Kythirans on the west, south and east, and the Monarchists in the north.

== Kythiran Advance ==
As General Von Wolfswald settled into Imperia, five Kythiran Armies were marching into Imperius.

* Army Group A, Operating from Dorwall, marched alongside Imperius' second largest river, which led to the forests south of Imperia.
* Army Group B, Operating from Chesterfield, marched south towards the remains of the Duchy of Lotric.
* Army Group C, Operating from the Mediori Fleet, had landed on the eastern shore of Imperius, and was marching west, through lands that were flatter than the west coast, but covering a much longer distance, which was harder to supply.
* Army Group D, Operating from Marsadini, crossed the mountains to meet up with Army Group A from the south.
* Army Group E, Operating from Solleria, also marched to Lotric in order to meet up with Army Group B.

The numerically superior Republicans send eight army groups south to intercept Kythira's Army Group B and E. During the Battle of Lotric, the Republican Army faced a massive defeat, losing a total of seven army groups. This was because only two army groups had managed to reach Lotric at all, the others had been stalled by fighting with Monarchists armies under the command of Senator Meyer.

This Kythiran victory showed General Von Wolfswald that the civil war had to stop first, in order to reunite the armies of Imperius and fight the greater threat to their realm. To this end he invited Senator Meyer to Imperia, offering a full stalemate until the Kythirans were defeated, a full pardon for all who were fighting for the Monarchists cause after the war, and a position in the new Republican government.

Whilst these negotiations were underway, Kythiran Army Group B and E had fully taken control of the Duchy of Lotric. Here, they treated the local populace kindly, offering them food and other supplies. Important Lotrican artifacts were carefully packaged and shipped to Helmira. Any Lotrican citizen who so desired also received the ability to move to the Kythiran Empire, where they would be able to gain full citizenship in any of the regions, an offer that a great many Lotricans took.

It was at this time that the Kythiran Crown Prince, Charles Viromaro, who had received the rank of Admiral of the Kythiran Imperial Navy, landed in Lotric for a surprise visit to the Kythiran troops. A mass parade was held through the old city ruins, and a week of celebrations were held for their "Liberation from Imperius oppression". Crown Prince Charles was quoted in the Helmiran Times as saying ''"This is a glorious day, not just for our Empire, but for Minecraftia and indeed for justice. Finally House Mace has been avenged, and Lotric is free.".''

== The Great March ==
After the celebrations, the Kythiran armies focused on taking the midlands of Imperius through a combined attack. At this point morale in Imperius had fallen massively in the civilian population after their armies had suffered loss after loss. This caused many cities and towns to surrender to the Kythirans without a fight. Those places that did fight back were met with great acts of brutality, hoping to squash any rebellion. Any city, town or village that surrendered without a fight was spared, although the occasional looting did happen. If a city resisted and after that fell, the Kythirans responded by publicly executing all "Men of fighting age", whilst sending at least half of the remaining population back to Solleria, where they were sold on the Alcanzari slave markets. If there were not enough ships in a harbour at any time to transport all the new prisoners, the remaining Imperians were simply dumped into the cold seas and kicked back when trying to get back to land. Learning of the atrocities committed against their countrymen caused a flood of refugees that was yet another drain for the already struggling supply chains of the Republican forces.

At this point the Republican and Monarchist forces had fully united under the shared command of General Von Wolfswald and Senator Meyer. This, together with the massive mountain ranges that spread across Imperius and the start of winter, caused the Kythiran march to slowly grind to a halt. Grand Marshal Agricola and Grand Admiral Amedeo personally travelled to Helmira to convince the Emperor that his latest order that ''"No Kythiran shall retreat."'' would be retracted in favour of allowing for tactical retreats. The Emperor however rejected this, and almost had the two commanders arrested on the spot for high-treason.

Disgruntled, both commanders returned to the front. On their journey, the ''H.M.S. LeGrave,'' which was carrying Grand Marshal Agricola was attacked and sunk by an Imperius battle-cruiser submarine. This caused his deputy, Alfredo Castillo to be promoted to the role of Grand Marshal. Castillo had risen through the ranks of the Imperial Legion fully based on his merit, rather than his heritage, which was how Grand Marshal Agricola had received his rank. Grand Admiral Amedeo wrote in his diary: ''"Although Lord Agricola was a good man, and a brave soldier, he was not the shiniest of diamonds. It may be harsh, but I think his dying was the best tactical move he could've done for winning the war."''.

Grand Marshal Castillo ordered the Kythiran armies to dig in for the winter, developing a series of trenches and temporary forts from where they could defend themselves against the continued attacks by the Republicans. Admiral Charles Viromaro, against the council of the other admirals, ordered a new attack on Imperia. His fleet was however mostly decimated before it could even arrive near Imperia, for the foggy and dark winter Northern Sea made traversing the fields of ice near impossible. He managed to make it back to Dorwall, where he was attacked whilst walking near the docks. The attackers were never found, and the young prince was send to a field hospital where he would spend several weeks recovering. Suspecting a mutiny resulted in the Emperor ordering the execution of over two hundred random sailors from Charles' fleet.

As the winter made way for spring, the Kythirans left their fortifications, slowly trying to advance further into Republican territory. At this point the Kythirans controlled around 30% of Imperius territory. Within this land, a massive propaganda campaign was being held, with the goal of convincing the local population that the Kythirans were only there to restore the Dragestein monarchy and that Von Wolfswald and Meyer were traitors to Imperius. Some Imperians believed in this so much that they volunteered to fight with the Kythirans. These peoples were organised into the Dragestein Battalion, which soon became one of the most brutal but effective part of the Imperial Legion. They struck deep into Republican controlled territory, performing raids, heists and assassinations of Republican targets. Their commander, Anton Fritzi, had served in the Fjellsoldat but had been thrown into prison after stealing from the village bakery he was stationed at. The arrival of the Kythiran Legion in his town turned out to be his salvation, as the Kythirans freed him, after which he offered his services.

As summer came around, the Kythirans finally managed to break the deadlock, marching deeper into the Republican territories, until they eventually controlled around 60% of Imperius lands. Crown Prince Charles, having fully recovered, landed his new fleet on the southern Imperius coast with the intention of meeting up with Army Group E. This succeeded, and the two armies marched north together, during which the prince tried but failed to take full command of the army group. As they marched over the Battenberg, they marched straight into an Republican army that was two times as large as the Kythiran army group. Attempting to retreat, they ran straight into a piercing manoeuvre by General Von Wolfswald. During this Battle of the Battenberg, the entire Kythiran Army Group E was lost. The commander, General Pendragon, killed himself before he could be captured. Crown Prince Charles Viromaro was captured alive and send to Imperia as a war trophy. Here he stayed for a total of three months, until winter eventually came, and the armies fell into another stalemate. This caused a massive drop in morale, that resulted in a wide spread retreat across all lines, until only about 25% of Imperius territory was still held.

The Grand Chancellor eventually managed to negotiate a prisoner swap with General Von Wolfswald and Senator Meyer. 40,000 Imperians who had been sold into slavery in Alcanzar were bought back by the Crown, and the Kythirans let it be known that all those people would either be freed together with the Crown Prince, or all slain. Von Wolfswald was forced to agree, and the freed slaves were send to Republican controlled Imperius territory, in exchange for the return of Charles Viromaro. The Crown Prince was welcomed back to Helmira with a series of parades, but the celebrations were short lived, as the remnants of the Imperius Royal Navy managed to suddenly and unexpectedly attack Marsadini. Although they only looted and burned down a portion of the city they

When the Kythirans wanted to move their fleet further north, towards Imperia however, they were ambushed. First, a large field of sea mines were spread over the Redstonian Strait. The ships that managed to pass these fell under heavy fire from coastal batteries operated by troops warned by the Fjellsoldat soldier. Then, in the Northern Sea, the Kythiran Imperial Navy met most of the Raggisar Navy, and the largest sea battle in history unfolded, known as the ''Battle of the Northern Sea''. Over the course of four days of continued fighting, hundreds of ships and thousands of soldiers on both sides fell and sunk into the ice cold sea.

This battle destroyed most of the Imperius Royal Navy and greatly crippled the Kythiran Imperial Navy. The remaining Kythiran ships, still under heavy bombardment from the batteries on the Raggisar coast, retreated back to Dorwall and Chesterfield.

Of the 453 Kythiran ships that participated in the Battle, only 72 returned. Admiral Amedeo, who led the Kythiran Imperial Navy, send a letter to the White Gold Tower, requesting that the Province of Ardoragh would send its navy, one of the world's most advanced at the time, to aid in the war. Meanwhilst, with the sea no longer a viable route towards Imperia, the Kythirans began their full land invasion.

== Chaos in Imperia ==
In Imperia the news of the Kythiran invasion was causing mass chaos. The city guard struggled to contain the looting that occurred almost every night, with many citizens fleeing into the countryside. The government buildings were shut down, but the operation to evacuate the valuable inventories of these buildings was extremely slow to get off the ground due to the massive amount of bureaucracy by the city police. By the time the evacuation crew arrived, many artifacts, including a great many historic ones, had been looted. A week after the riots began, the Palace of the Dragons, the royal palace in Imperia, began to burn. Local firefighters managed to save much of the exterior of the building, but the majority of the interior was destroyed. The prevailing theory is that the palace itself had been looted, and the fire was a way to cover up any tracks of the theft. After the war one of the former crown jewels of the Von Dragesteiner dynasty ended up in the hands of

With the Republican Armies approaching from the east, and the Kythirans approaching from the west, the Monarchists leader, Senator Meyer, decided to abandon the capital and escape north, taking with them the remaining ships of the Imperius Royal Navy still present in Imperia. Due to their dwindling troops however, some of these ships had to be abandoned. Rather than leave them for the Republicans, they decided to scuttle them in Dragons Bay.

Groups of Republican fanatics stormed the Zitadellenturm, taking control of the armoury and becoming the Democratically Organised Council of Free and Equal Citizens of Imperius, or DOCFECI.

Grand Duke Wulfhere Von Dragestein, a nephew of the Kaiser who had stayed in the capital in his role as Commander of the City Guard, was arrested by the DOCFECI, tried and found guilty of being an 'Enemy of the Revolution', and publicly executed. This began a reign of terror, wherein the DOCFECI ruthlessly prosecuted anyone they suspected of having even the slightest Monarchist sympathies. This reign of terror, called the ''Month of Tears'', only ended when the Republican army took control of the city. General Von Wolfswald used the Zitadellenturm as his temporary base of operations. From here, he commanded the Republican armies, which were fighting the Kythirans on the west, south and east, and the Monarchists in the north.

== Kythiran Advance ==
As General Von Wolfswald settled into Imperia, five Kythiran Armies were marching into Imperius.

* Army Group A, Operating from Dorwall, marched alongside Imperius' second largest river, which led to the forests south of Imperia.
* Army Group B, Operating from Chesterfield, marched south towards the remains of the Duchy of Lotric.
* Army Group C, Operating from the Mediori Fleet, had landed on the eastern shore of Imperius, and was marching west, through lands that were flatter than the west coast, but covering a much longer distance, which was harder to supply.
* Army Group D, Operating from Marsadini, crossed the mountains to meet up with Army Group A from the south.
* Army Group E, Operating from Solleria, also marched to Lotric in order to meet up with Army Group B.

The numerically superior Republicans send eight army groups south to intercept Kythira's Army Group B and E. During the Battle of Lotric, the Republican Army faced a massive defeat, losing a total of seven army groups. This was because only two army groups had managed to reach Lotric at all, the others had been stalled by fighting with Monarchists armies under the command of Senator Meyer.

This Kythiran victory showed General Von Wolfswald that the civil war had to stop first, in order to reunite the armies of Imperius and fight the greater threat to their realm. To this end he invited Senator Meyer to Imperia, offering a full stalemate until the Kythirans were defeated, a full pardon for all who were fighting for the Monarchists cause after the war, and a position in the new Republican government.

Whilst these negotiations were underway, Kythiran Army Group B and E had fully taken control of the Duchy of Lotric. Here, they treated the local populace kindly, offering them food and other supplies. Important Lotrican artifacts were carefully packaged and shipped to Helmira. Any Lotrican citizen who so desired also received the ability to move to the Kythiran Empire, where they would be able to gain full citizenship in any of the regions, an offer that a great many Lotricans took.

It was at this time that the Kythiran Crown Prince, Charles Viromaro, who had received the rank of Admiral of the Kythiran Imperial Navy, landed in Lotric for a surprise visit to the Kythiran troops. A mass parade was held through the old city ruins, and a week of celebrations were held for their "Liberation from Imperius oppression". Crown Prince Charles was quoted in the Helmiran Times as saying ''"This is a glorious day, not just for our Empire, but for Minecraftia and indeed for justice. Finally House Mace has been avenged, and Lotric is free.".''

== The Great March ==
After the celebrations, the Kythiran armies focused on taking the midlands of Imperius through a combined attack. At this point morale in Imperius had fallen massively in the civilian population after their armies had suffered loss after loss. This caused many cities and towns to surrender to the Kythirans without a fight. Those places that did fight back were met with great acts of brutality, hoping to squash any rebellion. Any city, town or village that surrendered without a fight was spared, although the occasional looting did happen. If a city resisted and after that fell, the Kythirans responded by publicly executing all "Men of fighting age", whilst sending at least half of the remaining population back to Solleria, where they were sold on the Alcanzari slave markets. If there were not enough ships in a harbour at any time to transport all the new prisoners, the remaining Imperians were simply dumped into the cold seas and kicked back when trying to get back to land. Learning of the atrocities committed against their countrymen caused a flood of refugees that was yet another drain for the already struggling supply chains of the Republican forces.

At this point the Republican and Monarchist forces had fully united under the shared command of General Von Wolfswald and Senator Meyer. This, together with the massive mountain ranges that spread across Imperius and the start of winter, caused the Kythiran march to slowly grind to a halt. Grand Marshal Agricola and Grand Admiral Amedeo personally travelled to Helmira to convince the Emperor that his latest order that ''"No Kythiran shall retreat."'' would be retracted in favour of allowing for tactical retreats. The Emperor however rejected this, and almost had the two commanders arrested on the spot for high-treason.

Disgruntled, both commanders returned to the front. On their journey, the ''H.M.S. LeGrave,'' which was carrying Grand Marshal Agricola was attacked and sunk by an Imperius battle-cruiser submarine. This caused his deputy, Alfredo Castillo to be promoted to the role of Grand Marshal. Castillo had risen through the ranks of the Imperial Legion fully based on his merit, rather than his heritage, which was how Grand Marshal Agricola had received his rank. Grand Admiral Amedeo wrote in his diary: ''"Although Lord Agricola was a good man, and a brave soldier, he was not the shiniest of diamonds. It may be harsh, but I think his dying was the best tactical move he could've done for winning the war."''.

Grand Marshal Castillo ordered the Kythiran armies to dig in for the winter, developing a series of trenches and temporary forts from where they could defend themselves against the continued attacks by the Republicans. Admiral Charles Viromaro, against the council of the other admirals, ordered a new attack on Imperia. His fleet was however mostly decimated before it could even arrive near Imperia, for the foggy and dark winter Northern Sea made traversing the fields of ice near impossible. He managed to make it back to Dorwall, where he was attacked whilst walking near the docks. The attackers were never found, and the young prince was send to a field hospital where he would spend several weeks recovering. Suspecting a mutiny resulted in the Emperor ordering the execution of over two hundred random sailors from Charles' fleet.

As the winter made way for spring, the Kythirans left their fortifications, slowly trying to advance further into Republican territory. At this point the Kythirans controlled around 30% of Imperius territory. Within this land, a massive propaganda campaign was being held, with the goal of convincing the local population that the Kythirans were only there to restore the Dragestein monarchy and that Von Wolfswald and Meyer were traitors to Imperius. Some Imperians believed in this so much that they volunteered to fight with the Kythirans. These peoples were organised into the Dragestein Battalion, which soon became one of the most brutal but effective part of the Imperial Legion. They struck deep into Republican controlled territory, performing raids, heists and assassinations of Republican targets. Their commander, Anton Fritzi, had served in the Fjellsoldat but had been thrown into prison after stealing from the village bakery he was stationed at. The arrival of the Kythiran Legion in his town turned out to be his salvation, as the Kythirans freed him, after which he offered his services.

As summer came around, the Kythirans finally managed to break the deadlock, marching deeper into the Republican territories, until they eventually controlled around 60% of Imperius lands. Crown Prince Charles, having fully recovered, landed his new fleet on the southern Imperius coast with the intention of meeting up with Army Group E. This succeeded, and the two armies marched north together, during which the prince tried but failed to take full command of the army group. As they marched over the Battenberg, they marched straight into an Republican army that was two times as large as the Kythiran army group. Attempting to retreat, they ran straight into a piercing manoeuvre by General Von Wolfswald. During this Battle of the Battenberg, the entire Kythiran Army Group E was lost. The commander, General Pendragon, killed himself before he could be captured. Crown Prince Charles Viromaro was captured alive and send to Imperia as a war trophy. Here he stayed for a total of three months, until winter eventually came, and the armies fell into another stalemate. This caused a massive drop in morale, that resulted in a wide spread retreat across all lines, until only about 25% of Imperius territory was still held.

The Grand Chancellor eventually managed to negotiate a prisoner swap with General Von Wolfswald and Senator Meyer. 40,000 Imperians who had been sold into slavery in Alcanzar were bought back by the Crown, and the Kythirans let it be known that all those people would either be freed together with the Crown Prince, or all slain. Von Wolfswald was forced to agree, and the freed slaves were send to Republican controlled Imperius territory, in exchange for the return of Charles Viromaro. The Crown Prince was welcomed back to Helmira with a series of parades, but the celebrations were short lived, as the remnants of the Imperius Royal Navy managed to suddenly and unexpectedly attack Marsadini. She studied medicine at both the Imperial University in Helmira, after which she moved to Ardoria, against her father's wishes, to study at Ardoria University. She was known as a hardworking, quiet student, who often used her vast Viromaro allowance of 32,000 Florynts a week to help the local poor of Ardoria. In the weekends she was a frequent guest of [[House Hjarta|Lady Hjarta]], using her access to the Viromaro fortune to help support her efforts of conserving Ardoragh's rich nature reserves. When not at the Hjarta Palace she would live in the Skaði Palace.

When the Kythiran Invasion of Imperius began, she and her brother, Crown-Prince Charles Viromaro, were ordered by their father to join the war effort. Charles was promoted to Admiral, and was put in charge of the Second Attican Fleet. Theodosia was send to Imperius, serving as a nurse in Dorwall and Chesterfield. After the assassination of her mother, Empress Prisca Viromaro, she was rushed to Helmira, where she took up residence in the Villa Altojardin, under constant protection by the Imperial Guard.

The Chancellor immediately took Theodosia under his guidance. Within 48 hours after the signing of the Reforma Carta, Emperor Louis Viromaro had signed his formal abdication. Three days after Theodosia was crowned Empress, in a sober coronation ceremony in the White-Gold Tower.

Her younger brother, Prince Charles Viromaro, was not present at the coronation, for he was using the event as a distraction to steal a part of the Viromaro fortune hidden in the Sanssouci Palace, after which he went into a self-imposed exile as a pretender to the Kythiran throne, refusing to acknowledge his sister's legitimacy. Her father was banned from the coronation, although he was present in Helmira at the time. At the recommendation of the Chancellor she banned her father from entering Helmira a week after her coronation, forcing him to live further away from the center of imperial power. Her brother was formally stripped of his titles, last name, bank accounts and property within the Empire, and an arrest warrant was issued for him being captured alive. A reward for this was set at 6.25 million Florynts. The KIA was ordered to find and neutralise any supporters of Charles, after lord Edward Blanchard attempted to run for public office on a restoration of Charles to the throne. This movement, the so called Charlesians, were swiftly made illegal and went underground.

She is a supporter of the abolitionist philosopher Edmund Arouet, and is a firm supporter of the new Constitutional Monarchy. She has close ties with her Grand Chancellor, Auguste Panokota, and her Imperial Secretary, Bernhard Magrak.

== Assassination attempt ==
In her fifth year as Empress Theodosia was shot several times during an event in Dorwall. The culprit, Johann Magdeborg, a vagebond with a long criminal record, was arrested at the scene but hung himself in his prison cell before he could be interrogated. The Empress was rushed to Imperia, where she received intense medical treatment for 5 long months, ultimately surviving the attack. The Empress had visited Dorwall, the first Kythiran royal since the Grand War, to attend a memorial service. As a part of this tour she had offered to speak to citizens of Dorwall in her hotel. The busy crowd allowed Johann to sneak in a gun, and seconds after entering the room he pushed aside several attendees, took aim at the empress and fired a total of four shots before the Imperial Guard managed to overpower him.

Emperor Louis Viromaro, known as Louis ''The Party Prince'' in his youth, Louis ''The Builder'', Louis ''The Despot'' (Only in Ardoragh) and later Louis ''The Warrior'' during his reign, and Louis ''The Unfortunate'' after his abdication, was the Emperor of the [[Empire of Kythira|Kythiran Empire]] during the last decades of the Fourth Era. He ruled for 22 years, the last 8 being preoccupied with the Grand War, though much of that he only de jure ruled as Emperor, with his son, crown-prince Charles ruling as prince-regent in the name of his father.

The start of his reign was considered a golden age of Viromaro absolutism. He dismissed the Council of Provinces and greatly reduced the powers of the High-Lords. His massive taxation schemes brought the state and House Viromaro itself incredible wealth, which he put into expanding Helmira and preparing his armies and navy for the Grand War.

In the middle of his reign he was responsible for escalating the Dervich Incident, which was the catalyst for the Raggisar Revolution. This gave him the casus beli to invade Imperius with what would be known as the Grand War. After eight years of fighting the Kythirans were forced to retreat and accept a peace deal that almost bankrupted the Crown. To prevent a civil war the High-Lords had him sign the Reforma Carta, ending Viromaro absolutism, and forced him to abdicate in favour of his daughter, Empress Theodosia Viromaro.

Louis Viromaro was born in Ardoragh, in the [[The Skaði Palace|Skaði Palace]], the second son of [[Emperor Alexander Viromaro]]. His older brother [[House Hjarta|Amantis Viromaro]] was born three years earlier in the same palace. They both grew up in Helmira, until he was seventeen, when he was send to study at the University of Ardoria where his brother was already attending his own education. During their studies Amantis met Freya Hjarta, a woman of low Ardoraghi nobility. They fell deeply in love, and after their studies were completed got married and stayed in Ardoragh. Louis rented a villa in the city, refusing the use the High-Lord's castle as a residence, and never attending any of the High-Lord's formal events.

Louis mean-whilst went back to Helmira after his studies, with a personal disdain for Ardoraghi life, which he considered as uncivilised and old fashioned, using [[Winterhal|Fort Winterhal]] as his private residence. Refusing to listen to the advise of his generals and admirals, he continued to plunge the forces into several failed attacks, until the Imperius forces eventually started to push the Kythirans back towards the Narrow Sea.

During this time, Louis spend almost all his waking and sleeping hours in the White-Gold Tower, going over battle plans, writing to the High-Lords to demand more soldiers, ships, weapons and Florynts, whilst also trying to continue the rule the fracturing Empire.

After a visit to her husband in the Tower, the Empress Prisca Viromaro took a carriage with the curtains down, to keep out the summer heat, to the Royal Helmsdeep Theatre Society to enjoy the premiere of a new opera about the Kythiran victories during the war. Goran Prodan, an Ardoraghi-Nationalist born and raised in a communal farm in southern Ardoragh, threw a bomb into the carriage. Unable to see the occupants, he assumed that the Emperor would be on board. The Empress died on the square in front of the Arch of Unity. Goran was arrested by royal guards, and executed by public drowning in the Bay of Splendour. According to members of staff, the Emperor had a telescope installed in the imperial appartement of the Tower so he could observe it personally.

Emperor Louis became despondent after the death of Empress Prisca. Gone were the days of his larger than life personality and personal extravagance. He locked himself in his office in the top of the White-Gold Tower, refusing to let any of his staff or family even enter the imperial appartement. This did give the Kythirans a short series of successes in the war, for it gave the supreme command of the armies back to the Grand Marshal and the Grand Admiral, who were now able to lead a series of tactical retreats, in order to regroup for a final attempt at taking Imperia.

Crown Prince Charles and Princess Theodosia were send back to Helmira. The princess was moved into the Villa Altojardin under strict protection by the Imperial Guard. Charles took over the government in the form of regent-prince.

During the last decisive Battle for Imperia, desperately needed Ardoraghi reinforcements never arrived, resulting in the loss of the battle. This total loss of morale resulted in several mutinies across the Kythiran armies, as well as protests in the Empire itself once the news broke.

The Grand Marshal and the Grand Admiral both met up in Chesterfield, where they decided to send an envoy to Imperia in order to offer a truce in order to eventually move towards a peace treaty. In this they did not involve the Emperor, who still was not allowing anyone to meet with him, or the prince-regent, whom they deemed to be to determinate to win the war by force.

to sign a peace treaty on the H.M.S. Eastera. Following this peace treaty, the civil war in Imperius continued, until the eventual success of the revolutionaries and the declaration of the Raggisar Republic.

In Helmira, meanwhile, the Crown was in a desperate position, where it need to pay for the rebuilding of her armies and navies, as well as pay reparations to the new Republic. To get this money, the Crown borrowed heavily from the Mercenary Bank, whilst also demanding large sums of extra tribute from her provinces.

Using the opportunity, the leaders of Ardoragh, Attica and Alcanzar, the largest provinces of the Empire, banned together and presented the Grand Chancellor with the Reforma Carta, a set of demands and reforms, in exchange for which they would help finance the Crown's rebuilding and reparations.

Knowing that the alternative would be a civil war that would be extremely hard for the Crown to win, the Emperor conceded with all demands, and together with the Grand Marshal and all the High-Lords signed the Reforma Carta into law. The last demand of the Reforma Carta was that Emperor Louis abdicated in favour of his first born child, which he did the very next day.

Because Louis had expected to make his oldest son, Charles Viromaro, who was two years younger than Theodosia, heir to the Empire, the former had been trained since he could walk to become the next ruler. Crown Prince Charles had served during the Kythiran Invasion as a general in the invading armies, and was well known as a Viromaro absolutist who even challenged the Ardoraghi High-Lord to a duel, but fearing that the crown prince might cheat, the Ardoraghi High-Lord never responded to this challenge.

Specifically because of this, the Reforma Carta demanded to make the oldest child the heir, forgoing the classical agnatic primogeniture that was the standard in the Empire up until the Carta, in order to increase their chances of moulding the new Empress into a more lenient figure.

== Post-Abdication ==

After his abdication Louis left Helmira and public life for good. For a few months he lived in the tiny Villa Isla de Peligro. When this was attacked by local villagers, he requested a new residence more befitting of his status. Empress Theodosia granted this, and he was moved to the grander [[Sanssouci Palace]]. His memoirs "''Treason Within''", where he blamed House Von Dragestein and the iniators of the Reforma Carta for the failure of the Grand War famously flopped.

Emperor Louis Viromaro, known as Louis ''The Party Prince'' in his youth, Louis ''The Builder'', Louis ''The Despot'' (Only in Ardoragh) and later Louis ''The Warrior'' during his reign, and Louis ''The Unfortunate'' after his abdication, was the Emperor of the [[Empire of Kythira|Kythiran Empire]] during the last decades of the Fourth Era. He ruled for 22 years, the last 8 being preoccupied with the Grand War, though of that he only de jure ruled as Emperor, with his son, crown-prince Charles ruling as prince-regent in the name of his father.

The start of his reign was considered a golden age of Kythiran absolutism. He dismissed the Council of Provinces and greatly reduced the powers of the High-Lords. His massive taxation schemes brought the state and House Viromaro itself incredible wealth, which he put into expanding Helmira and preparing his armies and navy for the Grand War.

In the middle of his reign he was responsible for escalating the Dervich Incident, which was the catalyst for the Raggisar Revolution. This gave him the Casus Beli to invade Imperius with what would be known as the Grand War. After eight years of fighting the Kythirans were forced to retreat and accept a peace deal that almost bankrupted the Crown. To prevent a civil war the High-Lords had him sign the Reforma Carta, ending Viromaro absolutism, and forced him to abdicate in favour of his daughter, Empress Theodosia Viromaro.
== Youth ==

Louis Viromaro was born in Ardoragh, in the [[The Skaði Palace|Skaði Palace]], the second son of [[Emperor Alexander Viromaro]]. His older brother [[House Hjarta|Amantis Viromaro]] was born three years earlier in the same palace. They both grew up in Helmira, until he was seventeen, when he was send to study at the University of Ardoria where his brother was already attending his own education. During their studies Amantis met Freya Hjarta, a woman of low Ardoraghi nobility. They fell deeply in love, and after their studies were completed got married and stayed in Ardoragh.

Louis mean-whilst went back to Helmira after his studies, with a personal disdain for Ardoraghi life, which he considered as uncivilised and old fashioned, using [[Winterhal|Fort Winterhal]] as his private residence. Here he would throw lavish parties with many esteemed guests from across Minecraftia, including [[Duke Thomas Mace of Lotric]], who was a personal friend of Louis and his best man at his royal wedding to Prisca Vinkhuys, the daughter of the then [[High-Lord of Attica]], when he was 30 years old. Like his older brother, Louis too was married inside the [[White Gold Tower|White-Gold Tower's throne room]].

In total he and Prisca would have 4 children. Princess Theodosia, Prince Charles, Princess Alexovia and Princess Maceny.

== Reign ==
The reign of Emperor Louis Viromaro started when his father, [[Emperor Alexander Viromaro|Alexander ''The Peacemaker'' Viromaro]], died in a hunting accident when Louis was 39 years of age. His older brother, Crown Prince Amantis, drowned on his way to the coronation. Tragedy struck again when the [[Imperius|Imperius Reich]] used the chaos in the Empire to wipe out the rebellious [[Duchy of Lotric]] in the [[Lotrican Genocide]]. Although he tried to send aid to the Lotricans and Duke Mace, he struggled with the bureaucracy of not yet being crowned, and the unwillingness of the provinces to send aid fast enough.

Following his coronation, he immediately fired Grand Chancellor Von Reventrad, who had served under his father, and initiated policies that focused on expanding the powers of the Crown, whilst repealing laws and decrees of his father that gave more independence to the Six Provinces. In order to fund his ambitious goals he increased taxes on the provinces ten-fold, draining their coffers. The Imperial Senate and the Provincial Council both protested, upon which Louis had the speakers of both Houses arrested and imprisoned, and the Senate and Council dissolved.

With the incredible wealth this gave him he ordered the renovations and expansions of the imperial city of Helmira, the largest construction project in history, even needing to hire labourers, craftsmen and architects from the Imperius Reich to make sure the project met his tight deadlines.

The elderly High-Lord of Ardoragh tried but failed to return the autonomy of his province, much to the displeasure of his eldest son, Lord Von Roterstein. When the latter became High-Lord upon his father's retirement, the Emperor and his High-Lord clashed heavily. When the High-Lord began demanding a return of his province' autonomy, restoration of the Provincial Council and a lower tax rate, the Emperor refused. In response to this, the Ardoraghi ruler began to close down border crossings and pay smugglers and pirates to evade the harsh Kythiran taxes. Because of this, the Emperor began to look for a potential House to replace the Von Rotersteiners as High-Lords of Ardoragh. When he learned that the Ardoraghi court had made all religions legal within Ardoragh's borders, going against Louis' Holy Cee Doctrine, the Emperor instead had the Ministry of the Interior draw up plans for a separation of Ardoragh into two separate, smaller provinces, where House Ulv would've been made the new High-Lords.

Before these plans could come to fruition however, the Emperor's attention was occupied by trouble in the east. The Dervich Incident led to the start of the Raggisar Revolution, which Louis saw as the opportunity to finally conquer Imperius and make all of Minecraftia a single state, leading to the Grand War.

== Revolution, War & Reforms ==
The Kythiran Invasion of Imperius at the beginning was lauded as a great success, as the Kythirans successfully captured cities that had been part of the Reich since its inception, such as Dorwall and Chesterfield. Imperial Mountton Regatta

The Imperial Mountton Regatta or the IMR is the most famous and oldest Regatta in Minecraftia. It was founded in the Third Era by Edward Mountton, after a discussion between traders from Kythira and Imperius broke out in the restaurant of the Ye Olde Tower Hotel, in regards to who could sail the fastest across the Senfina Sea. Edward suggested a race from his hotel, across the Senfina Sea, around the island of Dorwall, and back to the hotel. The winner would receive 1,500 Florynts. The success of this race led to the Mountton Cup to become an annual event, until Emperor Charles I Viromaro during the Second Era, after founding the Mediori Fleet, decided to become a patron of the race. He increased the price to 30,000 Florynts, and changed the name to the Imperial Mountton Regatta or IMR.

The race has been held every year since it's founding, only being cancelled for the entire duration of the Grand War. Emperor Philip Viromaro was the only Emperor who actively participated in the race, using his new royal yacht. He however never won a race, though he did give every winner 1 million Florynts and every participant 20,000.

It was the largest and deadliest war in Minecraftian history, spanning over 8 years, resulting in the collapse of the Imperius monarchy and the near disintegration of the Kythiran Empire, which was prevented by the Reforma Carta.

== Pre-War Events ==
The Lotrican Genocide, the Dervich Incident and the resulting Treaty of Altojardin had greatly damaged the reputation of House Von Dragesteiner and the monarchy as a whole. The loss of territory had been an enormous scandal, filling even the pro-Dragestein newspapers of the reich. Riots broke loose in Imperia and across the reich, which the royal guards struggled to put down. General Von Wolfswald took control of the city of Eisenturm, locking the Count of Eisenturm in the city's dungeon, and declaring himself interim-president of the 'Imperius Republic'. The Kaiser immediately demanded that Von Wolfswald would either surrender to the reich or execute himself.

For the safety of the royal family, the Grand Marshal suggested they'd travel to the royal palace deep in Imperius territory. As the carriage travelled through the forests of the Reich, it was suddenly ambushed by revolutionary soldiers. They shot the Grand Marshal as he tried to fight them off, and arrested the kaiser and his family, transporting them to a farm nearby. Here they were stripped of their valuables and locked in the basement.

== Cause ==
The Kythirans did not want a republican government in charge. Preferring a monarch and a system more like their own, they immediately began preparations to restore order in Imperius, end the republic and return the Kaiser as the leader of the Reich, although with considerably less powers than before. The Kythirans hoped that, in return for helping the Kaiser regain his throne, they would be able to annex large swaths of territory of the Reich.

== The Start of the War ==
The uneasy months before the Grand War were spent with alleged naval exercises in the Mediori Sea. In reality this was a front to collect as many troops as possible from across the Empire. Eventually a force of 300,000 soldiers had gathered near the Mediori Sea, soldiers from across the Empire, though Alcanzar and Attica delivered the most troops. Meanwhile, Kythiran spies from the KIA infiltrated the Raggisar Navy, bribing several members of the Raggisari Senfina Fleet. In a cold and dark winter night, at 3:00 AM, these spies set fire to their ships, burning down several dozen of the fleet, whilst several Kythiran merchant vessels blew themselves up at harbours for the Senfina Fleet, blocking the exit to the seas. Though many of these traitors were caught, some managed to escape, and through their KIA contacts managed to get a new identity in the Empire.

With the Senfina Sea opened up, the invasion began. 300,000 Kythiran troops boarded onto the many ships of the Mediori Fleet and sailed east. Being able to ship around 3000 soldiers per crossing, the fleet began its first wartime excursion out into the Southern Sea. Part of the fleet went south-east, bringing Kythiran soldiers as far as the east coast of Imperius. The rest of the fleet went north, and split into two attacking forces. The first place to fall under Kythiran fire was the City of Chesterfield. Under heavy bombardement, and totally outnumbered and outgunned, the city watch quickly raised a white flag above their walls. The Kythirans had their first foothold in Imperius. Quickly, more ships began to ferry soldiers from the Mediori Fleet and unloading them in Chesterfield. At 5:00 AM, the Kythiran ambassador to Imperia presented the formal Declaration of War to the Raggisar president.

A Fjellsoldat soldier who had survived this first attack however had managed to mount his horse, and began an exhausting ride across the entire Imperius western coast, warning all settlements and forts along his way about the incoming Kythiran invaders. Eventually, he confiscated a boat, and managed to reach and warn Dorwall about the incoming invaders.

''Captain Fernando Cortez'' was the highest ranking officer of the Imperius Royal Navy present on Dorwall at the time, and he swiftly took action. Arresting all foreigners present in Dorwall at the time, most of whom traders from Kythira. These people were taken aboard a series of confiscated ships, together with all women and children of Dorwall, and evacuated north towards Imperia. All men still in Dorwall were brought to the docks, where they were rationed out the sparse amount of weapons and armour left in the trading city.

As the last ship with refugees left the island, the first Kythiran Imperial Navy warships could be seen arriving in the horizon. The makeshift battalion was no match for the Kythiran Navy, which acted relatively restrained compared to later years, killing only a dozen local soldiers, sending most towards Alcanzar as prisoners of war. Here, many would be sold off into slavery, with only a small portion of the original population of Dorwall returning after the war. The republican mayor of Dorwall would be hanged by the Kythirans. Captain Cortez managed to escape his temporary jail in Dorwall, stealing a rowboat at night and managed to get to the Imperius mainland, where he would rendezvous with a Republican army under the command of ''Thomas "Cobblestone Wall" Jansohn''. The very next day, to celebrate their victory, Emperor Louis Viromaro himself visited the island for 2 hours, congratulating the troops before returning back to Helmira.

The island itself became the a Kythiran stronghold in the Narrow Sea, being used as a vital port for transporting more troops into mainland Imperius.

When the Kythirans wanted to move their fleet further north, towards Imperia however, they were ambushed. First, a large field of sea mines were spread over the Redstonian Strait. The ships that managed to pass these fell under heavy fire from coastal batteries operated by troops warned by the Fjellsoldat soldier. Then, in the Northern Sea, the Kythiran Imperial Navy met most of the Raggisar Navy, and the largest sea battle in history unfolded, known as the ''Battle of the Northern Sea''. Over the course of four days of continued fighting, hundreds of ships and thousands of soldiers on both sides fell and sunk into the ice cold sea.

== Chaos in Imperia ==
In Imperia the news of the Kythiran invasion was causing mass chaos. The city guard struggled to contain the looting that occurred almost every night, with many citizens fleeing into the countryside. The government buildings were shut down, but the operation to evacuate the valuable inventories of these buildings was extremely slow to get off the ground due to the massive amount of bureaucracy by the city police. By the time the evacuation crew arrived, many artifacts, including a great many historic ones, had been looted. A week after the riots began, the Palace of the Dragons, the royal palace in Imperia, began to burn. Local firefighters managed to save much of the exterior of the building, but the majority of the interior was destroyed. The prevailing theory is that the palace itself had been looted, and the fire was a way to cover up any tracks of the theft. With the Republican Armies approaching from the east, and the Kythirans approaching from the west, the Monarchists leader, Senator Meyer, decided to abandon the capital and escape north, taking with them the remaining ships of the Imperius Royal Navy still present in Imperia. Due to their dwindling troops however, some of these ships had to be abandoned. Rather than leave them for the Republicans, they decided to scuttle them in Dragons Bay.

Groups of Republican fanatics stormed the Zitadellenturm, taking control of the armoury and becoming the Democratically Organised Council of Free and Equal Citizens of Imperius, or DOCFECI.

Grand Duke Wulfhere Von Dragestein, a nephew of the Kaiser who had stayed in the capital in his role as Commander of the City Guard, was arrested by the DOCFECI, tried and found guilty of being an 'Enemy of the Revolution', and publicly executed. This began a reign of terror, wherein the DOCFECI ruthlessly prosecuted anyone they suspected of having even the slightest Monarchist sympathies. This reign of terror, called the ''Month of Tears'', only ended when the Republican army took control of the city. General Von Wolfswald used the Zitadellenturm as his temporary base of operations. From here, he commanded the Republican armies, which were fighting the Kythirans on the west, south and east, and the Monarchists in the north.

== Kythiran Advance ==
As General Von Wolfswald settled into Imperia, five Kythiran Armies were marching into Imperius.

* Army Group A, Operating from Dorwall, marched alongside Imperius' second largest river, which led to the forests south of Imperia.
* Army Group B, Operating from Chesterfield, marched south towards the remains of the Duchy of Lotric.
* Army Group C, Operating from the Mediori Fleet, had landed on the eastern shore of Imperius, and was marching west, through lands that were flatter than the west coast, but covering a much longer distance, which was harder to supply.
* Army Group D, Operating from Marsadini, crossed the mountains to meet up with Army Group A from the south.
* Army Group E, Operating from Solleria, also marched to Lotric in order to meet up with Army Group B.

The numerically superior Republicans send eight army groups south to intercept Kythira's Army Group B and E. During the Battle of Lotric, the Republican Army faced a massive defeat, losing a total of seven army groups. This was because only two army groups had managed to reach Lotric at all, the others had been stalled by fighting with Monarchists armies under the command of Senator Meyer.

This Kythiran victory showed General Von Wolfswald that the civil war had to stop first, in order to reunite the armies of Imperius and fight the greater threat to their realm. To this end he invited Senator Meyer to Imperia, offering a full stalemate until the Kythirans were defeated, a full pardon for all who were fighting for the Monarchists cause after the war, and a position in the new Republican government.

Whilst these negotiations were underway, Kythiran Army Group B and E had fully taken control of the Duchy of Lotric. Here, they treated the local populace kindly, offering them food and other supplies. Important Lotrican artifacts were carefully packaged and shipped to Helmira. Any Lotrican citizen who so desired also received the ability to move to the Kythiran Empire, where they would be able to gain full citizenship in any of the regions, an offer that a great many Lotricans took.

It was at this time that the Kythiran Crown Prince, Charles Viromaro, who had received the rank of Admiral of the Kythiran Imperial Navy, landed in Lotric for a surprise visit to the Kythiran troops. A mass parade was held through the old city ruins, and a week of celebrations were held for their "Liberation from Imperius oppression". Crown Prince Charles was quoted in the Helmiran Times as saying ''"This is a glorious day, not just for our Empire, but for Minecraftia and indeed for justice. Finally House Mace has been avenged, and Lotric is free.".''

== The Great March ==
After the celebrations, the Kythiran armies focused on taking the midlands of Imperius through a combined attack. At this point morale in Imperius had fallen massively in the civilian population after their armies had suffered loss after loss. This caused many cities and towns to surrender to the Kythirans without a fight. Those places that did fight back were met with great acts of brutality, hoping to squash any rebellion. Any city, town or village that surrendered without a fight was spared, although the occasional looting did happen. If a city resisted and after that fell, the Kythirans responded by publicly executing all "Men of fighting age", whilst sending at least half of the remaining population back to Solleria, where they were sold on the Alcanzari slave markets. If there were not enough ships in a harbour at any time to transport all the new prisoners, the remaining Imperians were simply dumped into the cold seas and kicked back when trying to get back to land. Learning of the atrocities committed against their countrymen caused a flood of refugees that was yet another drain for the already struggling supply chains of the Republican forces.

At this point the Republican and Monarchist forces had fully united under the shared command of General Von Wolfswald and Senator Meyer. This, together with the massive mountain ranges that spread across Imperius and the start of winter, caused the Kythiran march to slowly grind to a halt. Grand Marshal Agricola and Grand Admiral Amedeo personally travelled to Helmira to convince the Emperor that his latest order that ''"No Kythiran shall retreat."'' would be retracted in favour of allowing for tactical retreats. The Emperor however rejected this, and almost had the two commanders arrested on the spot for high-treason.

Disgruntled, both commanders returned to the front. On their journey, the ''H.M.S. LeGrave,'' which was carrying Grand Marshal Agricola was attacked and sunk by an Imperius battle-cruiser submarine. This caused his deputy, Alfredo Castillo to be promoted to the role of Grand Marshal. Castillo had risen through the ranks of the Imperial Legion fully based on his merit, rather than his heritage, which was how Grand Marshal Agricola had received his rank. Grand Admiral Amedeo wrote in his diary: ''"Although Lord Agricola was a good man, and a brave soldier, he was not the shiniest of diamonds. It may be harsh, but I think his dying was the best tactical move he could've done for winning the war."''.

Grand Marshal Castillo ordered the Kythiran armies to dig in for the winter, developing a series of trenches and temporary forts from where they could defend themselves against the continued attacks by the Republicans. Admiral Charles Viromaro, against the council of the other admirals, ordered a new attack on Imperia. His fleet was however mostly decimated before it could even arrive near Imperia, for the foggy and dark winter Northern Sea made traversing the fields of ice near impossible. He managed to make it back to Dorwall, where he was attacked whilst walking near the docks. The attackers were never found, and the young prince was send to a field hospital where he would spend several weeks recovering. Suspecting a mutiny resulted in the Emperor ordering the execution of over two hundred random sailors from Charles' fleet.

As the winter made way for spring, the Kythirans left their fortifications, slowly trying to advance further into Republican territory. At this point the Kythirans controlled around 30% of Imperius territory. Within this land, a massive propaganda campaign was being held, with the goal of convincing the local population that the Kythirans were only there to restore the Dragestein monarchy and that Von Wolfswald and Meyer were traitors to Imperius. Some Imperians believed in this so much that they volunteered to fight with the Kythirans. These peoples were organised into the Dragestein Battalion, which soon became one of the most brutal but effective part of the Imperial Legion. They struck deep into Republican controlled territory, performing raids, heists and assassinations of Republican targets. Their commander, Anton Fritzi, had served in the Fjellsoldat but had been thrown into prison after stealing from the village bakery he was stationed at. The arrival of the Kythiran Legion in his town turned out to be his salvation, as the Kythirans freed him, after which he offered his services.

As summer came around, the Kythirans finally managed to break the deadlock, marching deeper into the Republican territories, until they eventually controlled around 60% of Imperius lands. Crown Prince Charles, having fully recovered, landed his new fleet on the southern Imperius coast with the intention of meeting up with Army Group E. This succeeded, and the two armies marched north together, during which the prince tried but failed to take full command of the army group. As they marched over the Battenberg, they marched straight into an Republican army that was two times as large as the Kythiran army group. Attempting to retreat, they ran straight into a piercing manoeuvre by General Von Wolfswald. During this Battle of the Battenberg, the entire Kythiran Army Group E was lost. The commander, General Pendragon, killed himself before he could be captured. Crown Prince Charles Viromaro was captured alive and send to Imperia as a war trophy. Here he stayed for a total of three months, until winter eventually came, and the armies fell into another stalemate. This caused a massive drop in morale, that resulted in a wide spread retreat across all lines, until only about 25% of Imperius territory was still held.

The Grand Chancellor eventually managed to negotiate a prisoner swap with General Von Wolfswald and Senator Meyer. 40,000 Imperians who had been sold into slavery in Alcanzar were bought back by the Crown, and the Kythirans let it be known that all those people would either be freed together with the Crown Prince, or all slain. Von Wolfswald was forced to agree, and the freed slaves were send to Republican controlled Imperius territory, in exchange for the return of Charles Viromaro. The Crown Prince was welcomed back to Helmira with a series of parades, but the celebrations were short lived, as the remnants of the Imperius Royal Navy managed to suddenly and unexpectedly attack Marsadini. Although they only looted and burned down a portion of the city they

== Pre-War Events ==
The Lotrican Genocide, the Dervich Incident and the resulting Treaty of Altojardin had greatly damaged the reputation of House Von Dragesteiner and the monarchy as a whole. The loss of territory had been an enormous scandal, filling even the pro-Dragestein newspapers of the reich. Riots broke loose in Imperia and across the reich, which the royal guards struggled to put down. General Von Wolfswald took control of the city of Eisenturm, locking the Count of Eisenturm in the city's dungeon, and declaring himself interim-president of the 'Imperius Republic'. The Kaiser immediately demanded that Von Wolfswald would either surrender to the reich or execute himself.

For the safety of the royal family, the Grand Marshal suggested they'd travel to the royal palace deep in Imperius territory. As the carriage travelled through the forests of the Reich, it was suddenly ambushed by revolutionary soldiers. They shot the Grand Marshal as he tried to fight them off, and arrested the kaiser and his family, transporting them to a farm nearby. Here they were stripped of their valuables and locked in the basement.

== Cause ==
The Kythirans did not want a republican government in charge. Preferring a monarch and a system more like their own, they immediately began preparations to restore order in Imperius, end the republic and return the Kaiser as the leader of the Reich, although with considerably less powers than before. The Kythirans hoped that, in return for helping the Kaiser regain his throne, they would be able to annex large swaths of territory of the Reich.

== The Start of the War ==
Over the course of a month, tens-of-thousands of Kythiran troops from all over the Empire were brought to the Mediori Fleet and boarded onto the many ships the Empire had to offer. Being able to ship around 3000 soldiers per crossing, the fleet began its first wartime excursion out into the Southern Sea. Part of the fleet went south-east, bringing Kythiran soldiers as far as the east coast of Imperius. The rest of the fleet went north, and split into two attacking forces. The first place to fall under Kythiran fire was the City of Chesterfield. Under heavy bombardement, and totally outnumbered and outgunned, the city watch quickly raised a white flag above their walls. The Kythirans had their first foothold in Imperius. Quickly, ships began to ferry soldiers from the Mediori Fleet and unloading them in Chesterfield.

A Fjellsoldat soldier who had survived this first attack however had managed to mount his horse, and began an exhausting ride across the entire Imperius western coast, warning all settlements and forts along his way about the incoming Kythiran invaders. Eventually, he confiscated a boat, and managed to reach and warn Dorwall about the incoming invaders.

''Captain Fernando Cortez'' was the highest ranking officer of the Imperius Royal Navy present on Dorwall at the time, and he swiftly took action. Arresting all foreigners present in Dorwall at the time, most of whom traders from Kythira. These people were taken aboard a series of confiscated ships, together with all women and children of Dorwall, and evacuated north towards Imperia. All men still in Dorwall were brought to the docks, where they were rationed out the sparse amount of weapons and armour left in the trading city.

As the last ship with refugees left the island, the first Kythiran Imperial Navy warships could be seen arriving in the horizon. The makeshift battalion was no match for the Kythiran Navy, which acted relatively restrained compared to later years, killing only a dozen local soldiers, sending most towards Alcanzar as prisoners of war. Here, many would be sold off into slavery, with only a small portion of the original population of Dorwall returning after the war. Captain Cortez managed to escape his temporary jail in Dorwall, stealing a rowboat at night and managed to get to the Imperius mainland, where he would rendezvous with a Republican army under the command of ''Thomas "Cobblestone Wall" Jansohn''.

The island itself became the a Kythiran stronghold in the Narrow Sea, being used as a vital port for transporting more troops into mainland Imperius.

When the Kythirans wanted to move their fleet further north, towards Imperia however, they were ambushed. First, a large field of sea mines were spread over the Redstonian Strait. The ships that managed to pass these fell under heavy fire from coastal batteries operated by troops warned by the Fjellsoldat soldier. Then, in the Northern Sea, the Kythiran Imperial Navy met most of the Imperius Royal Navy, and the largest sea battle in history unfolded, known as the ''Battle of the Northern Sea''. It was the largest and deadliest war in Minecraftian history, spanning over 8 years, resulting in the collapse of the Imperius monarchy and the near disintegration of the Kythiran Empire, which was prevented by the Reforma Carta.

== Pre-War Events ==
The Lotrican Genocide, the Dervich Incident and the resulting Treaty of Altojardin had greatly damaged the reputation of House Von Dragesteiner and the monarchy as a whole. The loss of territory had been an enormous scandal, filling even the pro-Dragestein newspapers of the reich. Riots broke loose in Imperia and across the reich, which the royal guards struggled to put down. General Von Wolfswald took control of the city of Eisenturm, locking the Count of Eisenturm in the city's dungeon, and declaring himself interim-president of the 'Imperius Republic'. The Kaiser immediately demanded that Von Wolfswald would either surrender to the reich or execute himself.

For the safety of the royal family, the Grand Marshal suggested they'd travel to the royal palace deep in Imperius territory. As the carriage travelled through the forests of the Reich, it was suddenly ambushed by revolutionary soldiers. They shot the Grand Marshal as he tried to fight them off, and arrested the kaiser and his family, transporting them to a farm nearby. Here they were stripped of their valuables and locked in the basement.

== Cause ==
The Kythirans did not want a republican government in charge. Preferring a monarch and a system more like their own, they immediately began preparations to restore order in Imperius, end the civil war and return the Kaiser as the leader of the Reich, although with considerably less powers than before. The Kythirans hoped that, in return for helping the Kaiser regain his throne, they would be able to annex large swaths of territory of the Reich.

== The Start of the War ==
Over the course of a month, tens-of-thousands of Kythiran troops from all over the Empire were brought to the Mediori Fleet and boarded onto the many ships the Empire had to offer. Being able to ship around 3000 soldiers per crossing, the fleet began its first wartime excursion out into the Southern Sea. Part of the fleet went south-east, bringing Kythiran soldiers as far as the east coast of Imperius. The rest of the fleet went north, and split into two attacking forces. The first place to fall under Kythiran fire was the City of Chesterfield. Under heavy bombardement, and totally outnumbered and outgunned, the city watch quickly raised a white flag above their walls. The Kythirans had their first foothold in Imperius. Quickly, ships began to ferry soldiers from the Mediori Fleet and unloading them in Chesterfield.

A Fjellsoldat soldier who had survived this first attack however had managed to mount his horse, and began an exhausting ride across the entire Imperius western coast, warning all settlements and forts along his way about the incoming Kythiran invaders. Eventually, he confiscated a boat, and managed to reach and warn Dorwall about the incoming invaders.

''Captain Fernando Cortez'' was the highest ranking officer of the Imperius Royal Navy present on Dorwall at the time, and he swiftly took action. Arresting all foreigners present in Dorwall at the time, most of whom traders from Kythira. These people were taken aboard a series of confiscated ships, together with all women and children of Dorwall, and evacuated north towards Imperia. All men still in Dorwall were brought to the docks, where they were rationed out the sparse amount of weapons and armour left in the trading city.

As the last ship with refugees left the island, the first Kythiran Imperial Navy warships could be seen arriving in the horizon. The makeshift battalion was no match for the Kythiran Navy, which acted relatively restrained compared to later years, killing only a dozen local soldiers, sending most towards Alcanzar as prisoners of war. Here, many would be sold off into slavery, with only a small portion of the original population of Dorwall returning after the war. Captain Cortez managed to escape his temporary jail in Dorwall, stealing a rowboat at night and managed to get to the Imperius mainland, where he would rendezvous with a Republican army under the command of ''Thomas "Cobblestone Wall" Jansohn''.

The island itself became the a Kythiran stronghold in the Narrow Sea, being used as a vital port for transporting more troops into mainland Imperius.

When the Kythirans wanted to move their fleet further north, towards Imperia however, they were ambushed. First, a large field of sea mines were spread over the Redstonian Strait. The ships that managed to pass these fell under heavy fire from coastal batteries operated by troops warned by the Fjellsoldat soldier. Then, in the Northern Sea, the Kythiran Imperial Navy met most of the Imperius Royal Navy, and the largest sea battle in history unfolded, known as the ''Battle of the Northern Sea''. Over the course of an four days of continued fighting, hundreds of ships and thousands of soldiers on both sides fell and sunk into the ice cold sea.

This battle destroyed most of the Imperius Royal Navy and greatly crippled the Kythiran Imperial Navy. The remaining Kythiran ships, still under heavy bombardment from the batteries on the Imperius coast, retreated back to Dorwall and Chesterfield.

Mean-whilst, with the sea no longer a viable route towards Imperia, the Kythirans began their full land invasion.

== Chaos in Imperia ==
In Imperia the news of the Kythiran invasion was causing mass chaos. The city guard struggled to contain the looting that occurred almost every night, with many citizens fleeing into the countryside. The government buildings were shut down, but the operation to evacuate the valuable inventories of these buildings was extremely slow to get off the ground due to the massive amount of bureaucracy by the city police. By the time the evacuation crew arrived, many artifacts, including a great many historic ones, had been looted. A week after the riots began, the Palace of the Dragons, the royal palace in Imperia, began to burn. Local firefighters managed to save much of the exterior of the building, but the majority of the interior was destroyed. The prevailing theory is that the palace itself had been looted, and the fire was a way to cover up any tracks of the theft.

With the Republican Armies approaching from the east, and the Kythirans approaching from the west, the Monarchists leader, Senator Meyer, decided to abandon the capital and escape north, taking with them the remaining ships of the Imperius Royal Navy still present in Imperia. Due to their dwindling troops however, some of these ships had to be abandoned. Rather than leave them for the Republicans, they decided to scuttle them in Dragons Bay.

Groups of Republican fanatics stormed the Zitadellenturm, taking control of the armoury and becoming the Democratically Organised Council of Free and Equal Citizens of Imperius, or DOCFECI.

Grand Duke Wulfhere Von Dragestein, a nephew of the Kaiser who had stayed in the capital in his role as Commander of the City Guard, was arrested by the DOCFECI, tried and found guilty of being an 'Enemy of the Revolution', and publicly executed. This began a reign of terror, wherein the DOCFECI ruthlessly prosecuted anyone they suspected of having even the slightest Monarchist sympathies. This reign of terror, called the ''Month of Tears'', only ended when the Republican army took control of the city. General Von Wolfswald used the Zitadellenturm as his temporary base of operations. From here, he commanded the Republican armies, which were fighting the Kythirans on the west, south and east, and the Monarchists in the north.

== Kythiran Advance ==
As General Von Wolfswald settled into Imperia, five Kythiran Armies were marching into Imperius.

* Army Group A, Operating from Dorwall, marched alongside Imperius' second largest river, which led to the forests south of Imperia.
* Army Group B, Operating from Chesterfield, marched south towards the remains of the Duchy of Lotric.
* Army Group C, Operating from the Mediori Fleet, had landed on the eastern shore of Imperius, and was marching west, through lands that were flatter than the west coast, but covering a much longer distance, which was harder to supply.
* Army Group D, Operating from Marsadini, crossed the mountains to meet up with Army Group A from the south.
* Army Group E, Operating from Solleria, also marched to Lotric in order to meet up with Army Group B.

The numerically superior Republicans send eight army groups south to intercept Kythira's Army Group B and E. During the Battle of Lotric, the Republican Army faced a massive defeat, losing a total of seven army groups. This was because only two army groups had managed to reach Lotric at all, the others had been stalled by fighting with Monarchists armies under the command of Senator Meyer.

This Kythiran victory showed General Von Wolfswald that the civil war had to stop first, in order to reunite the armies of Imperius and fight the greater threat to their realm. To this end he invited Senator Meyer to Imperia, offering a full stalemate until the Kythirans were defeated, a full pardon for all who were fighting for the Monarchists cause after the war, and a position in the new Republican government.

Whilst these negotiations were underway, Kythiran Army Group B and E had fully taken control of the Duchy of Lotric. Here, they treated the local populace kindly, offering them food and other supplies. Important Lotrican artifacts were carefully packaged and shipped to Helmira. Any Lotrican citizen who so desired also received the ability to move to the Kythiran Empire, where they would be able to gain full citizenship in any of the regions, an offer that a great many Lotricans took.

It was at this time that the Kythiran Crown Prince, Charles Viromaro, who had received the rank of Admiral of the Kythiran Imperial Navy, landed in Lotric for a surprise visit to the Kythiran troops. A mass parade was held through the old city ruins, and a week of celebrations were held for their "Liberation from Imperius oppression". Crown Prince Charles was quoted in the Helmiran Times as saying ''"This is a glorious day, not just for our Empire, but for Minecraftia and indeed for justice. Finally House Mace has been avenged, and Lotric is free.".''

== The Great March ==
After the celebrations, the Kythiran armies focused on taking the midlands of Imperius through a combined attack. At this point morale in Imperius had fallen massively in the civilian population after their armies had suffered loss after loss. This caused many cities and towns to surrender to the Kythirans without a fight. Those places that did fight back were met with great acts of brutality, hoping to squash any rebellion. Any city, town or village that surrendered without a fight was spared, although the occasional looting did happen. If a city resisted and after that fell, the Kythirans responded by publicly executing all "Men of fighting age", whilst sending at least half of the remaining population back to Solleria, where they were sold on the Alcanzari slave markets. If there were not enough ships in a harbour at any time to transport all the new prisoners, the remaining Imperians were simply dumped into the cold seas and kicked back when trying to get back to land. Learning of the atrocities committed against their countrymen caused a flood of refugees that was yet another drain for the already struggling supply chains of the Republican forces.

At this point the Republican and Monarchist forces had fully united under the shared command of General Von Wolfswald and Senator Meyer. This, together with the massive mountain ranges that spread across Imperius and the start of winter, caused the Kythiran march to slowly grind to a halt. Grand Marshal Agricola and Grand Admiral Amedeo personally travelled to Helmira to convince the Emperor that his latest order that ''"No Kythiran shall retreat."'' would be retracted in favour of allowing for tactical retreats. The Emperor however rejected this, and almost had the two commanders arrested on the spot for high-treason.

Disgruntled, both commanders returned to the front. On their journey, the ''H.M.S. LeGrave,'' which was carrying Grand Marshal Agricola was attacked and sunk by an Imperius battle-cruiser submarine. This caused his deputy, Alfredo Castillo to be promoted to the role of Grand Marshal. Castillo had risen through the ranks of the Imperial Legion fully based on his merit, rather than his heritage, which was how Grand Marshal Agricola had received his rank. Grand Admiral Amedeo wrote in his diary: ''"Although Lord Agricola was a good man, and a brave soldier, he was not the shiniest of diamonds. It may be harsh, but I think his dying was the best tactical move he could've done for winning the war."''.

Raghfall is a fine sword forged in the early Third Era on the orders of Emperor Francis Viromaro, using an ancient Second Era forge in the city of Redstonia.

It was a gift from the Crown to House Ulv, the newly crowned Ardoraghi Ducal family, for their services to the Empire in aiding in the conquest of the Confederacy of Ragh, doubling the size of Ardoragh. Ever since it has been passed down the generations to every Duke of House Ulv.

The blade was forged from four rare First Era swords, which were discovered in an abandoned mine near Oldspawn. The handle, twice as long as a normal sword handle, was made of pure gold, and studded in diamonds. The sword is currently located in ''Fort Yrticil.''
